Bumblebees did a number on me yesterday.

I was out bushhogging yesterday evening and got into a bumblebee nest, bastards ate me up.I bailed off my tractor and ran for all my old arse was worth.
Called my wife and told her to get on the golf cart and bring me some Benadryl and an Epi pen we had.
She got there,I felt fine except for all the stings and took 50 mg Benadryl.
Snuck back, found my glasses and jumped back on the tractor and took off for home.
When I got home,I got in my lounge chair and my feet, ankles and hands started itching like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Then I started getting hot and thirsty, went in kitchen to get drink of water.
I got so weak I couldn’t stand up and fell out on kitchen floor.Wife took my blood pressure and it was really low,she stuck me with the epi pen.She said I was beet red and diaphoretic(sweaty).
She got some Predisone from neighbor and gave me 8 mg.
What was scary was my tongue was swollen and my throat was so tight I had trouble swallowing the pills.
Anyway, little while I got better,BP came up and she helped me get in bed.
Nice to have a NP for a wife,
I had 31 visible stings on back, neck, arms and hands.2-3 more back of my head, can’t see because of hair.
I’ve been stung by bumblebees before and never had a problem but was never stung by this many, maybe 2-3.
Sucks but from now on I’l have to bring some Benadryl and Epi pen when I go in the woods.

tractor with a cab for the win....
Sorry you had to deal with all that. Sucks. Never heard of a bumblebee nest though.

Look on the bright side, bee stings are supposed to help with arthritis.
Nothing worse than getting into a hive on a tractor or mower. Sucks getting stung while still operating something.

Me neither, but now I’m terrified at the thought lol
I’ve been stung by 1 bumblebee in my life, when I was like 6 or 7 years old. Sucker stung me in the chest. I was at a pool party and didn’t have a shirt on and I think we were playing hide and seek or something and I got in some bushes and that thing lit me up. It hurt so bad that 20 something years later I still remember it lol

You sure it wasnt the big black ground hornets? I've gotten into these numerous times shredding in the woods hitting rotten logs or near power line poles and they have chased me running 200 yards. I've never heard of anyone being attacked by bumble bees.

I’m not allergic but those little suckers hurt bad . I got stung 14 times a couple weeks ago by yellow jackets while I was clearing a road through the woods.
I popped one stump out and there they came . I left the dozer where it was sitting and took off. They’ve been bad this year and I’ve been stung almost every time I’m out working . They even got in my bee keeper hat.

I got stung about a month ago by what I assume was a miner bee, which looks like a bumble bee. I was bush hogging and apparently ran over a spot they had been in. Unfortunately I stopped in the wrong spot after I ran over them and didn’t realize until one stung me. I froze and noticed they were surrounding me, so I threw it in 4th gear, popped the clutch and high tailed it out of there!
I had noticed some swarming in another spot of the field but didn’t think much of it until I found the second nest. I guess I was moving quickly enough that they didn’t have time to home in on me.
Apparently they tend to get more aggressive late summer because they’re trying to protect their winter stores.
ETA: They might have been bumble bees now that I look into it, but I’m no expert and I didn’t stick around to get a positive ID

Gosh dang dude, that's rough.
When I worked on a farm one of my coworkers ran the bush hog over one and got lit up pretty good. We put an old round bale over the nest, poured some diesel on it, and lit em up.

One of the simple joys in life is pulling up in the cab tractor and turning thr bush hog on over a nest of ground hornets.
I was cutting tall stuff last weekend and must have taken out a wasp nest. They swarmed the tractor for a few minutes before taking off.
The cab doesn't cool as much as I would like, but it's nice being out of the elements.

Cleaned your filter lately?
My cab has filters on either side that have to be cleaned. Also there is a radiator filter that has to be kept clean.
Not long after I got my tractor I ran over a hornets nest or something. Heard some popping on the glass of the cab. Looked around trying to figure it out and it was hornets hitting the glass.
I then knew that I made a great decision to listen to my wife about getting the cab.

I was dove hunting last year and knocked a cripple down that fell near my buddy's barn and went under a raised grate that he uses for a wash rack.
When I went to rake that joker out the ground when to vibrating and they poured out. I left that cripple dove under there and ran, and they took to me. Got me on the head 3 times. Along the way I lost my phone and shades.
I went back to get them 30 minutes later and they chased me again to the tune of another sting, but I got my stuff.
Felt fine, drove home and an hour later was puking my guts out. Sick as a dog for about two hours and then it passed.
I'm pretty careful now because the follow up might be worse.

Yeah, I keep it clean. I just ordered some radiator genies to help me do a better job of keeping it blown out under the hood. Cutting in tall stuff, I have to get out and blow it off every 10 minutes.
Tye glass just get so dang hot in the summer, it's hard to overcome with cooling. I ordered some ceramic tint. I just haven't had time to install it.

As a dumbass kid I was using a broom straw to mess with some carpenter bees in one of their bore holes on my grandparents back porch. Got stung directly in a fresh pocket knife cut on my thumb. Thumb swelled up to about the size of my big toe.

Bumble bees are the baddest mfers in the woods/field. I have been stung by every flying and some walking critters there are. They are viscous. Glad you are ok.

Never been hit by bumblebees.....yellows and wasps only.

Yes. They will chase you. I’ve had them chase me 50 yards biting/stinging me through my hat. Smashed it with my hand and got stung in my palm. They are mean.
