Buying 9mm Ammo From Academy

I'm planning on going to Academy to buy some 9mm ammo on Friday morning. I've seen people say show up before they open but does a gun/ammo line form outside the doors or is it a mad dash to the gun/hunting department to get an associate to help you?

How do you know they will have some on Friday?
Ive heard it is just a crap shoot on what day they get it in.
I mean, its a line, I guess you could full on sprint and pass people up to get there if you dont mind being that guy.

people form in a line and usually walk in line to the registers near customer service. once you get to the register you tell them what you want and they get it. 9mm is usually in the front by customer service.
id be pretty pissed if I waited in line for an hour and someone tried to cut me.

Get two boxes of 40 or 45. Take out the tray of ammo and replace with a tray of 9mm. Then you can get 4 boxes of 9mm.

i've found ammo at academy at different times of the day, i don't think they dish everything out to the early people or they get shipments mid-day sometimes
i've found ammo in the morning, around lunch, and even before closing
it's all about luck really
i just pop in there whenever im in the area and see if i get lucky

Lately in this area at least, they put out née ammo on Monday Wednesday and Friday.
Also, you won’t be able to steal like the other guy suggested. They have it behind the counter and you never touch until after you pay. Plus academy is one of the few not marking ammo up, so screw anyone trying to screw them.

And it should be locked up, even before these current conditions. At least the handgun ammo. In the past, I've had a few boxes of range ammo have several rounds missing. Someone pocketing it and putting the box back. Now I always check. Didn't really bother me that I got 95 range rounds instead of 100, but if I were buying defense rounds, that would.

People show up 1+ hours before open and form a line. Ammo is behind the customer service counter or handed out at an employee setup. There’s no cutting, or if you do, prepared for a massive fight.

I called them last week looking for some .410 shells. Guy told me they get trucks/shipments everyday and they have no idea what or how much, if any will be on it. The shipment that day had 8 boxes of 9mm on the truck. Only ammo on the whole dam thing

Was told lake Charles academy was putting it out at different times to give people who can't be there first time in the AM or the after work crowd a chance to get some of it.
Not sure of the veracity, but it explains me walking in there the other day at like 600 and scoring two boxes of 9mm federal.

I went today at 730am and there were already seven people in line but they didn't get any ammo.
Last time I went they got 9 boxes of 5.56 and no 9mm, was in line at 8:15 and got the last two boxes bc they got a bunch of 6.5 Creedmore that others loaded up on for their three box limit.
Also, no one has ever ran to get ammo. It's always orderly and a chill hang out session. Still annoying as crap though
