Cajun word thread

For you true Cajun's, please forgive my spelling, as I'm as North Louisiana "country" as a butter bean. But, being raised in South Louisiana, and having hunted and fished there a good bit, I've learned some of the common Cajun French words.
I started this thread as a spin off from an OT thread, where a guy asked a question about dreaming, but being awake. Like you're "up", but can't move. There is an old Cajun word for this condition. I don't remember the word, but it means something along of the "old hag is holding you down", like some kind of mythical swamp creature old lady monster has got you.
I'ma list the words I know/have heard over and over. Please correct spellings/meanings if you know the real answer, and feel free to ad those Cajun words that even us North Louisiana people should know.
1. The guides on Calcasieu refer to things like a really big back lash, or any other screwed up situation as a "casque ra", which supposedly means "big mess".
2. I distinctly remember a football coach from Lutcher - when asking if we understand his instructions - would use the term "compron" (pronounced "kawmp proh?", which I assumed meant "Comprehend?"
3. I remember the folks from Lutcher/Paulina talking about a person being "ki you" (have no idea how to spell it. It meant "rock" supposedly, like that person was hard headed.
4. Same crew use the word "couyon", which meant crazy supposedly.
What yall got?

Gratin = cracklins (grahtawnh)

Would that be the same thing as the black rice in the bottom of the jambalaya pot? I think that's the same word we used for that.
Edit: I've heard some people call the black/burned rice "grah doux" instead of "grohtaw".
Either way, it makes a damn fine sandwich, especially with white beans used as mayo.

The were saying "caillou" which means pebble or rock. In S LA, caillou is generally used to describe someone who gets into trouble that they create - by being hard headed often times.

I've never, ever called them that and never had even heard the term until this place was created.
I've called them Crappie all my life and also grew up in MS and now live in TN...
