Can I haul a golf cart in the bed of a F150?

Can the tailgate of my F150 support half the weight of a golf cart? I want to load a golf cart (approximately 1300 lbs. total) into the back of my truck but I have a 6’ bed on the truck which means the rear wheels would have to ride on the tailgate. I would be driving like that for about 2 hours so is it safe? I would rent a trailer and haul it but there will not be any UHaul places open on Sunday for me to get a trailer and that is when I am passing through that area, so if I could load it into the bed of my truck…it would save me a 4 hour round trip later next

I'm not saying it isn't possible, but I've never seen a golf cart in the back of a pick up.

I wouldn't risk it. Just pay the extra day and pick up the trailer Saturday and return it Sunday night/ Monday morning

2 1x6s run from cab to end of tailgate. Load cart on them. They distribute the weight evenly across the bed
similar to this. this guy didn't run the the whole way which is ok. if you run them the whole bed the front tires are on them too and it is even better for the tailgate

i rode a golf cart in the back of my F250 from covington to metry. my bed is like 6'4 or some crap. rear wheels may have barely been in bed or close to gate, can't remember. Just strap that bitch down good, it ain't going nowhere.
will say depending upon what kind of golf cart, the one i had was really low in the back, piece of metal that feet set on, was like 6 inches clearance off ground at most, became a problem getting on and off ramp due to scraping hitting ground, need a long ramp or backup to high ground to ease elevation difference.

I have seen the cables snap on a chevy with a honda foreman in it. luckily the straps held it in. put a huge crease dent in the tailgate where it hit the bumper.

what I always ask myself in these situations is if shite went wrong, what's the worst that could happen.
in your case, the tailgate could buckle and you could lose a golf cart, or at best frick it up pretty bad; in addition to a messed up tailgate.
I think you know the answer to this. DO IT!
jk... don't do it, just get the trailer

OP just needs to find a way to back in the golfcart into the truck, that way wouldn't a majority of weight be in bed?

or just spend the extra $25 on another day's rental and then not worry about killing someone on the hwy should you lose the cart.

I think the gasoline engines are pretty much under the front seat on most makes, as well.

Watch for low tree limbs, the roof will be up there pretty high, especially if it's a lifted cart. If its stock height, you may have trouble high centering as you break over into the tailgate. I worked at a golf cart place in college and plenty of people hauled them this way but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Although i find it crazy that a golf cart weighs 1300lbs...follow this advice.

I'd make sure my tailgate cables were extra new before attempting that. Might be smart to rig up some extras and definitely strap the hell out of it.
If it falls and kills someone, it's not only over for them, it's over for you as well

Will a golf cart even fit in a truck bed width wise?
I've never seen this before. Sounds sketchy.......but I'd do it.
I've hauled much heavier loads in the bed of an F150

Anyone know the weight rating for an F-150 tailgate? I have my 4-wheeler with the rear wheels on the tailgate all the time with no problems, but I'm curious if I purchased a larger 4-wheeler if it would be safe.

Strap it good. Run straps underneath your tailgate length wise for extra support. Ranger danger would do it.

All you need is some boards like I already posted. It really takes the weight off the tailgate
