Through a quick 5 minute google search I read some people ran into a metal sheet? The screw gets about half way in and just stops (inb4 that's what she said). Anyone ever run into this problem and know how to fix it?
For your time and advice, here's a chick with a power tool:
TIA

if you have sheet metal in your wall, do you have metal studs? live in a pre fab? otherwise it might be plating protecting electrical wires.

Metal drill bit, plug in drill, knock it out. Or move the curtain rod out an inch or so.

your probably catching the corner bead at the edge of the sheet rock. its usually pretty soft metal. take a small nail and GENTLY punch a hole in it

I don't think that's his issue. He said the screw goes in halfway. That corner bead is right at the surface.
Someone also suggested protection for wires, but I highly doubt they rain wires adjacent to a window.
There are really several variables at play depending on exactly where he is trying to put the screws. If it is near the corner, there are possibly corrugated joint fasteners that he's hitting. Also, what time of windows are we talking about? Wood? Vinyl? Fiberglass?

You might be hitting a Simpson header hanger, or similar. There are also wind shear straps that occasionally run on both the inside and outside of studs before sheathing - depending on wind load code requirements

What part of the country you in? Could be structural hardware. CS strapping and the like.

You hit this.
You should have more setback on your curtain rods. Sounds like you are putting the bracket too close to the window anyways. Move it several inches away, like 8-6" minimum. Should miss the header bracket and look a lot better.
