Anybody try these things? Do they work? I believe the brand around here is Comeaux Cooling Towels and I see them everywhere. Tempted to buy one but it seems like wetting and rewetting a regular towel would work just as well. Do they really stay cool that long?

I have a frog togg that I've have for a couple of years. They work well, but I usually forget I have it.

I've used several different brands during outdoor events. It may all be a placebo affect, but I make sure I have one with me when I set out on longer races.

I have a microfiber towel that came in 3 pack I bought for cleaning cars, didnt like them for the cars, so they became sweat rags. Started sticking on in the ice chest on the boat, pull it out a couple times a day and wipe my head/ face.
Can't see spending money on a cooling towel when that works fine.

They help, but they help less as the hunidity increases.

While participating in a 100+ mile kayak race, I don't want to add the weight of an ice chest and ice.

Cooling towels are supposed to cool by simply wetting them and they are reusable so not that expensive over several uses.

Fair point, I will concede that they don't seem worth it for my lazy arse. Were I to participate in something like this I would probably have a different opinion.

Www.occunomix.com. Tons of heat stress items. The Mira-cool products with the water activating crystals are superior to the wipes. Go getyousome,

My son's teams use them for baseball and early-season football practice. We also get some Florida water brewed up for late summer tournaments. I have taken one out on the boat with me a few times too. They work well.

This, but what I do is add some Fla water. That and ice and water. Wash cloth in it for a few. Supper cold! Rap around your neck and it will cool your body down fast.

II do this with Frogg Toggs -- but not with the perfumed "Florida Water."
Add some alcohol (isopropyl) to water, and store bottle in freezer overnight. Next day, periodically pour some on the towel. It will evaporate faster than plain water, and cool you faster.
