Cost to build a camp?

Looking at buying a lot about an hour outside of BR. Wanting a place to escape to with clean air and a nice view. Found some possibilities on Lake Rosemound just north of St Francisville. Lots that have electricity and water ran already. Would have to get my own sewer system though.
Ballpark cost of constructing a 1,000 or so SF camp? Doesn’t have to be the Taj Mahal. But not wanting used trailer quality either. Is pre-fab cabin an option?
TIA.

Camp or House? You say camp, but you are describing house.

Whatever your initial budget is, plus 20%.

1000 Square Feet is still gonna be between $150-200 to build I would guess.

Your best guess plus 80 percent has been my experience.

If you want cheap you could look at those prebuilt garage places. You'll have to finish with insulation and some sort of sheetrock or paneling (or pallet boards). For that sq/ft over in my area it's around 15-25k, but it's closer to trailer quality than home quality. Then of course you'd have to run plumbing and electricity and sewer along with a concrete pad.
However if you have to get a permit and govt's ok.... doubt those garages would qualify for occupancy permits. Your results may vary though.

Does Lake Rosemound have restrictions?

Yes. At least there was the last time I visited the camp my kin own there, which admittedly was 20 years ago.

Ours is 1200 sq ft+/- 2/1 on pilings. The family did most of the work and we bartered for a lot of the materials but we sank 80k into it.

We built a cabin starting in 2007 and finished in 2009. It’s approximately 900 square feet. It has 2 BR/2BA with a loft. It’s all wood (yellow poplar, cedar and pine) on the inside which the majority was cut off our place. We had it framed and blacked in with metal roof. We had someone build the cypress cabinets. We did the rest and ended up in the $70k range.

I have a camp. Small one . Pre fab metal bldg by CenLa metal bldgs Marksville. Had it convoyed up Nth. We finished it. Xtra metal studs, wired, insul, rock, whole 9 yds.
If i did it over i would definitely invest in portable. Something nice. Unless i was making it a retirement place. Then i’d build a cabin.

Get a travel trailer and stay at different camp grounds.
What you’re talking about is a place that’ll get broken into when you’re gone.

Look for camps that are already built, then subtract the lot value.
Or just buy a camp already built and be done with it. Construction sucks.

Somewhat.
Minimum of 800 SF. No trailers allowed.
Have to buy stock to use the lake. Long waiting list.

Was hoping to pull it off for $50-$70K. Not including the land.

You can get a rectangle metal building, built on a slab, insulated, with plumbing, septic, and an electrical panel, for $35k.
Then it's just a question of what kind of finish and fixtures you want. $70k should be very realistic before furniture, linens, kitchen utensils, etc. But all of that adds up. You can spend $10k on just the basics and still not have a lawn mower, weedeater, dog kennel, etc. All those add on costs can add up in a hurry.

My neighbor bought a 12'x 32' prefabbed shed, had it delivered to his house. He put in a full bathroom in the middle, a kitchen/living room on end and a bunkhouse at the opposite end. It sleeps 6. He wired it, put in a mini split for AC, insulated it, put sanded pine on the walls and roof and painted it, vinyl plank flood, kitchen is just a sink and a big toaster oven. Built the bunk beds out of 2x4s, tin on the btm.half if the walls for a Wayne's coat look. Him and his wife did all the work (minus running plumbing) and they have $16000 in it.

$80 - $100sqft. Its a wide range but depends on how fancy you want it and if you plan on doing anything yourself.

Could look into a pole barn they run around $10/square foot and then frame up something inside for a camp. If just a hunting camp don’t see why you couldn’t finish the inside yourself for $50-75/ sq ft
