Cost to install Powerpole? 8 or 10?

Trying to get a 10' Powerpole Blade installed on a 2008 Robalo R227 for my father's birthday. The marina where the boat is stored is saying $2100 for the anchor plus 5-6 hrs for the install for a total cost of around $2600.
Does the time for install seem on the high side for this? I was under the impression that it was a 2-3 hr job.

2500$ is right for pole and install, that's bos propeller price. I paid 2k for pro series 8', bracket and install. Worth the extra 200$

Bent quoted $3035 for the powerpole, bracket and install.
$2095 for 10' Blade
$325 for the bracket
$615 for the install
$2095 for 10' Blade
$325 for the bracket
$615 for the install

Okay, I just got a better quote from the marina for $2650. I think I am going to go with that.
Now here is the question black or white powerpole?
*Same model and color scheme as his boat.

I installed my 8' powerpole in an hour and a half...fasten the bracket to the jackplate, attach the pole to the bracket with 4 provided bolts, run your hydraulic lines, drill the holes for the pump wherever u feel like setting it, screw the pump down, connect the hydraulic lines to the pump, fill it with the fluid, connect to battery, prime pump
it really isn't worth the installation cost when you realize how easy it is...$615 to install a powerpole is highway robbery...and def go with black

I am not sure how quickly you are looking to buy one, but if you can wait until Black Friday you can get a 10' Power Pole blade and adapter bracket for $1750 shipped.
I installed mine on my boat and it was extremely easy to do. I did most of the work myself and had a friend help when I went to connect it to the adapter.
I called around on the northshore and I think the cheapest install quote I received was $200 from Dixie Trolling Motors. They are a approved vendor of Power-Pole.

and whichever way you do decide to go here's a tip, i cut a small 1/2" hole in the rubber motor cable harness (same one in your pic) and just ran the hydraulic lines through there right into the bottom of the hull...some of these places cut new holes in the transom to run the hydraulic lines thru when you don't need to...just a suggestion

That is exactly what I did with my install. Made it very easy to install. Running the hoses through my transom was my biggest worry.

This is a serious question, but how much do you really think he'd use a powerpole on that boat? That's a heavy boat with a (presumably) pretty deep draft.

He typically fishes inshore in 3-8' of water along rocks and marsh. He can no longer go fishing with just my mom because he cannot toss and hook the traditional anchor by himself multiple times in a day.
Draft on the boat is 18". I told him to buy a bay boat because he only really does inshore fishing, but for some reaon he likes a Vee and was adamant about a dual console for the grandchildren.

I talked to a buddy and he's got a guy who will go out to the boat and install for $200.
Last question: Does the 10' blade look ridiculous and is it overkill? Or is this like a TV situation where if you buy the 8' you'll always wish you'd gone bigger?

you can anchor in 8' with a 10' pole, but you can't anchor in 10' with an 8' pole.

I bought this:
Stick It
Cost about $300 for a 12 footer. Yeah I know the Power Pole is more "convenient".

That looks pretty interesting. How sturdy is it?

We used to make these out of PVC. They worked well. I like the brackets these people offer that attach to the boat. You could do dual ones in the back and not have your boat move to much.
I think my dad would prefer the convenience of the powerpole, but those sticks do work.
