Costa Del Mar sells out to Luxottica “Update”

Do you guys know this? I broke my Costas last weekend and when I went online to start the warranty process I see they are owned by Luxottica now. What a sellout of a company! As if they weren’t making enough money charging $250 for a pair of sunglasses! They now want pictures of the glasses before they will even give you a return authorization. Complete BS.
Update: I got an email saying that my glasses fall under the lifetime warranty! Under the cost to repair was checked “free”. They even gave me a prepaid UPS shipping label. That’s even better than the $15 fee plus the shipping that they used to charge. So I guess I will send in a claim for my Blackfin’s that I dropped and cracked a lens.

Damnit, I have a pair I have been meaning to send back for awhile now.
I think Costa was the last company they didn't own.

I dont know why they thought they would be different. Lux has done this to every company they have bought.
On another note we have more options now since they all have the same lenses no matter the brand.

Dammit. I’ve been wearing the Brines for almost a decade. I actually need to send two pair in for repair.
Anyone know if any other companies have similar frames to this style? Looked like Ray Ban has something close.

Ray Ban, Costa, Oakley, Maui Jim. All the same now.

The Brine is what I broke. I googled the buy out and it says they are closing a Florida facility and opening places in New York and California! Screw them.
I see adds for Blue Otter popping up on my Instagram. Luke Combs and Hannah Barron are sponsored by them. Anyone have any of them yet?

Evidently costa sold out back in 2014, but much remained the same. That parent company was the one recently acquired by Luxottica.
Glad I sent my discontinued pairs in for replacement last fall!

Seems like they are not fixing frames with rubber issues anymore. Tried to send a pair in just recently because rubber fell off and got denied. I had no issues with the previous 3 or 4 times.

I just went online to warranty a pair and saw the same thing. My heart sank a little when I saw Luxottica. Sucks.

That sucks. I have been rotating 2 pairs for years and never had nothing but positive experiences. Some times getting complete new frames when I send back for lenses.

Well how about some good news then...Leupold, yes that Leupold, has started making glasses. Check em out LINK

Does anyone make glass lense other than Costa? I've had my brines for 6 years and they don't have a scratch on the lense.. the frame has gone to crap so it's time for a new pair..

Maui Jim is a private company and has glass lenses. They have the best customer service in the business.
