nothing 'primitive' about it.
I find it hilarious that you can't use a winchester lever action .30-30 with iron sights in primitive season, but you can use a crack barrel .35 whelen with a scope.
The 30-30 is about the oldest smokeless powder rifle design you could use and a legitimate handicap vs your average dudes deer rifle. The cva scout .35 whelen is a modern designed legitimate hunt anything on the whole planet out to 300 yards bazooka. It's laughable.
It's also made it where if a louisiana guy were going to have one rifle, it's tough to argue a cva scout 35 whelen. You get a few extra weeks hunting with it and you're adequately equipped for every conceivable hunting trip on the entire plant, sans ones with 375 caliber restrictions.

Sounds like the consensus is 35 Whelen.
See if you can find an Encore and then order a barrel, my TCE really likes Barnes TTSX in 180gr

I am interested in speaking with you about the CVA
I wouldn't mind either, where are you located?

I may be selling a 35 whelen encore barrel soon. I recently got my suppressor and I’m going to order a shorter, threaded barrel for my gun.
I love my 35 whelen, when covid hit and I couldn’t find ammo, I started loading my own. I’m shooting a 200gr hammer bullet roughly 2900fps. Far from primitive. When I get the extra funds I plan to build a left handed bolt action 35 whelen, but it’s going to be in the $6k range, so probably next season lol

I have the 35 and I cannot keep a scope zeroed. No matter what rings

Man I love a 30-30. I’ve got a 1976 Marlin put a scope on it and shoot the Leverevolutions from Hornady and it’s a tac driver. Hammers deer

I have a CVA 35 Whelen. Great gun. Very loud if you forget to put your ear protection on….

It's probably the scope. I've had a nikon 2-7 completely crap out on a .375 h&h. There's lots of scopes out there that can't take a beating.

The 350 legend was made for midwestern states that limit primitive to straight walled cartridges. If you don’t hunt in those states there is zero reason to get it over the 35 whelen.
OTOH, if there's a chance you might hunt in AR, the 350 Legend would be a good choice. Beginning this year, AR is changing their "muzzleloader" season to an "alternative firearm" season that will allow using straight walled cartridges like the 350 Legend and many others.

Is it an H&R? I have one and missed 3 deer opening morning several years back. Finally hit one, I was aiming at the shoulder and hit it in the neck. Got home and went to take the gun out the back seat and the scope moved. After further inspection realized the rail was loose on the gun. I loc-tited the screws down and haven't missed one since. I never had thought about it because it came installed from the factory.

35 Whelen? What gun? Please be specific.
The very first CVA Scouts had a problem with destroying scopes. The problem was more that the guns were too light and people were wanting to shoot 225-250 grain bullets paired with cheap scopes. A lot of guys were buying DNZ one piece mounts and air rifle scopes to combat the problem. I bought the CVA Apex in 35 Whelen because it didn't have that problem. Just to be safe, I put a DNZ mount on it straight away. The same scope has been on that gun since 2012, zero issues. It is the most accurate rifle I own. At 100 yards all my bullets touch with 180gr Barnes TTSX.
The newer CVA Scouts have a much heaver barrel and come with a good base. The corrected version of the Scout was called the Scout II. In recent years they have gone back to just calling them Scouts.

I have the 35 Whelen CVA Scout. Have a Leupold sitting on it. Its the only rifle I hunt with now. I shoot Barnes VOR-TX 180 Grain . Most of my shots are 200 yards or less. Its a killing machine. I don't have any experience with the 350 but you cant go wrong with the 35 IMO.

Thanks to all of the suggestions, I just bought a 35 Whelen with muzzle brake and topped it with a Leupold Freedom 4-12x40
Got a box of Hornady 200 and Barnes 180 to take to the range.

I have a CVA Scout with Muzzlebrake with DNZ rings with a Vortex Crossfire II Scope. Once I got it dialed in, it shoots great. Barely kicks but make sure you have hearing protection on at all times.

Try it with the brake off. The recoil isn't bad and the reduction in muzzle blast is well worth it. You can feel those things behind your eyeballs with the brake on it.

Are you having a problem w/ a scope failure or is the scope moving in the rings?

The cartridge kicks less that a Whelen and damages less meat. But no reason to use it in places with smaller deer?
The 350 legend is a legit 100 yard hunting round. If you think you might shoot a deer at 125 or 150 yards, get the Whelen. Way more versatile. If you or your kid is more than say 10 years old, you’ll have no problems handling the recoil.

Just knocking it off zero

The 35 isn’t night and day different from a 30-06 in recoil as long as you’re not using really heavy bullets. If you’re using a solid set of rings torqued to the right settings, understand parallax adjustment and how it can shift zero, and are still seeing the zero move then it’s time for a new scope.

I have apparently a Rare CVA Scout.
Stainless , Camo 35 Remington. I can't find them on Gun broker or anywhere else.
It's like They were never made. I Love that little daisy BB gun that shoots 200 grain stompers.
Noting has ever ran away form it...just sayin
