Deer Cane/Attractants - Do they work?

I've always heard a lot of people say that they use molasses, deer cane, powdered jello, etc. to attract deer and that it works well. Does anybody have experience with this and does it work?

We've had success with molasses poured over corn & grape koolaid mixed with rice bran. They also love Mo Bucks. shite is getting expensive though at almost $14/sack. We bought a pallet last year and paid about $9/sack

Deer cane never worked for us. We stopped putting stuff like that out to be honest. Maybe the occasional mineral block.
I might try some molasses on a stump this year. I'm sure the hogs will love it.

In NEA they work. I've seen deer walk up and eat the dirt after pourin Cain out. They dig/eat that stuff out the size of a bath tub. I've poured that molasses stuff over rotting stumps. They will chew it down till there's nothing left.
And no, we don't have piney wood rooters where I hunt. Pretty sure it's deer doing the damage.

Peanut butter with the lid nailed to a tree. Cut the bottom off.

Strawberry Kool aid on rice bran has always worked great for me. Deer cane is just rice bran with some other crap mixed in it and way over priced if I remember correctly.

Deer caine, c'mere deer, and those types of products are all sodium bicarbonate (baking powder) as the base product. You can do the same buying it yourself and adding flavors and mineral instead of buying the expensive products that catch hunters more than deer. Some are base baking powder and add flavors and other salts. Some are base baking powder and add minerals and other salts. for $20 you can make a 5 gallon bucket of the stuff.

A lot of these are salt based, just get a salt block.

Couple decent sized piles of rice bran pellets seemed to work well for us in the past. Coons don't mess with it either.

Mo Bucks is nothing special just a blend of a bunch of stuff, but they do like it.
Cracked Corn
Rice Bran
Dried Molasses
Salt Mineral Blend
Flavoring
If you bought all the ingredients you could make it in the $8 a 50lb bag range.

Do you have any recipes?

For deer cane I'd say something along the lines of
25% Di Cal Phosphate
25% Sodium Bi Carb
50% Mineral Salt
Mo Bucks
25% Cracked Corn
70% Rice Bran
2.5% Dried Molasses
2.5% Di Cal Phosphate
To me Mo Bucks smells like dried french vanilla creamer.

deer cane works like a champ for us during the spring and summer when the deer are hitting mineral sites. pour it on a flat wet piece of ground and the will eat it down 2 feet deep and 5 feet wide

I've got a deer cocaine site that is 4-5 years old and has to be 6ft wide and a ft deep. Put out a few bags in the spring time and then again in the early fall
Works the best on rotted stumps or when you use the same location a few times
I've also tried the rice bran and jello with mixed results, grape worked the best
