If you were going hunting this weekend and were able to put one thing out, what would it be? Corn, rice bran, wild game treat, mo bucks? Something else?

I'm hunting acorns tomorrow. Not sure they'd pay much attention to anything I'd dump out (if I could legally do it) with how much is there naturally. I'd dump a sack of corn if I could, though. It wouldn't hurt anything.

I’ve used different things behind my house. Corn, apple corn, bull and heifer, rice bran, persimmon rice bran, and peanut butter rice bran.

The deer LOVE the bran, and the peanut butter seems to be the overall winner. All have worked though.

It’s expensive but everytime I’ve tried the Big and Js it gets crushed quickly.

Deer are on acorns heavy. They will ignore corn where I’m at when acorns are plentiful

I second the flavored corn. Usually any type of peanut butter bran works just as good if not better, but it’s so dry where we hunt I feel like it’s got the deer ignoring it. Great for skunks, though.

I’ll also add this as an advantage to the rice bran. After you think it’s gone, the deer keep coming back to hit it because it’s mixed in with the soil. It’s probably like that with anything but corn, but figured I’d share that.

Never could get our deer in area 6 to like the apple corn. Always had to end up mixing it with regular corn because they would just leave it on the ground.

My deer love this stuff. Super strong scent. Usually on it within hours of pouring it out.

Put out bran two days ago and they are killing it. I’m in Woodville and I have never seen so many acorns on the ground. Not touching the corn

I second this especially this early in season. things will change as veg starts to die off and acorns get picked up.

I've got two cameras out at the moment (Pointe Coupee Parish). one on a feeder (rack attack) and one on an oak flat with some persimmons at the perimeter. I'm getting 5x the activity at the oak flat vs the feeder.

Mother Nature wins. Hunt acorns if you got em. White Oak has started falling so get close.

Second is Corn. Absolutely the best there is after acorns hands down.

Third is Rice Bran solely because it keeps them coming back to check. Keeps them in the area and typically last longer than corn.

Fourth is a combo of ALL the flavored corns, flavored brans, mo buck type mixes of several products, sweet feeds, molasses infused products, mayhaw this and apple that or persimmon this and acorn flavored that.

Third and fourth are very for away from 1 and 2. Not typically comparable statewide. Will you find a pocket of deer here and there that have never had x product and hit it hard a minute.....SURE. But consistent long term tried and true from top of state to bottom is Corn after the Acorns dry up.

SIDE NOTE: Pro Tip of the Day: Acorn rage type spreadable granular products work best on WMA's . Spread in the wind and over large areas in front of where you plan to hunt... not to concentrate in any one area so to get the scent out and deer coming to browse thru and try and find it. #DONOTPILEITUP
