Getting swarmed a lot lately. I've heard Bounce dryer sheets work okay. Any tips that work for these bastards from hell?

Lavender oil
Citronella oil
Eucalyptus oil
Pennyroyal oil
Peppermint oil (dilute with water first; likely more effective against mosquitoes but also considered to work against horse-flies.
Lemongrass oil
2 oz soda water
ice
Vodka
Mix first six, apply liberally.
Mix final three, drink. The first three will not work, but the final three will make sure you don't care.

When on the baseball field and had one messing with me. I use to like to walk up to someone else real close, then duck down low, then walk away while squatted. Being the deer fly normally flys around your head, the deer fly would almost always stay on the person that I left it with.

Skin So Soft works really good. They'll buzz you but they won't bite. I've used it since I was a kid.

Vanilla extract works very well.

I had the same problem two years ago and did a lot of research. What I learned is there are only two or three ingredients that work on biting flies. The product I found and use is Sawyers broad spectrum insect repellent.
It says on the bottle "repels biting flies" I have used it about a 12-15 times with excellent results.
It is hard to find but here is a little info.

They will not fly into a stand of small pine trees, where there are branches near head-high. I don't know why.
