Do spinner feeders spook deer?

Thinking about setting up a couple of automatic feeders on my lease this weekend. I've always used a bumper buddy on my 4wheeler to throw corn. Due to time issues I would like to set up feeders and only have to fill them once a week. Do feeders tend to spook the deer?

No they don't spook them. Actually the opposite, kinda like a dinner bell.

I set up a feeder two years ago and the deer never came out during daylight hours. The corn would be gone every morning but I never saw a deer at the feeder during the day.

I think in drier climates with less food available they work better. Where I hunt there is so much rye grass and other stuff around to eat they ain't that hungry.

In my experience it depends on how you use it. If a deer is under the feeder when it goes off then yes it's going to scare them. I've seen them run off and at times come right back. What I've learned to do is only let if go off for a few seconds just before daylight. This allows them to eat all day but most of the corn is gone by nightfall. It produces a pattern where they know if they want to eat it only there during day light. It's worked for me. I also have stands where I dump corn. If it gets to a point where I am not hunting a stand I turn that feeder off and only run the ones I'm hunting. I killed 3 deer last year 2 of them with my bow following this. Missed one too.

I know I didn't get one day picture from August through mid January last year feeding with one.
Place I'm hunting is nocturnal anyway but I've never heard of going an entire season without a day pic. I'm probably the only person in Louisiana history.

It may spook them at first, but eventually they learn it's a dinner bell.

Same problem here.

It honestly depends on the deer in your area. Maybe inquire into what the other hunters do. In some areas, yes the come like a dinner bell. But in others they will run from the noise.

The crazy thing was no one was in my area. I was in school in BR and hunted maybe 2 weekends before thanksgiving and the deer still didn't show up during the day. Meanwhile across the road on my brothers lease they were slaughtering them

Just start them in the Summer, and they'll be used to them. If you wait till the season, in pressured areas, it'll scare the crap out of them...
