If we were to drive to one of these places to fish and not having any experience where to go, any recommendations for marinas, ride times, easy to figure out, etc. Thnks.

I would say no more than 2 hours pulling a boat. Depends on where you are coming from. You got about 45 minutes from 510 and I10. You can fish lake Borgne and the Biloxi marsh pretty easily from Campo's Marina. I think the rigs in lake Borgne have been producing trout and the reds can always be found in the Biloxi marsh.

We usually leave out of Yscloskey. End of HWY 46.

Before Katrina, we used to launch at Pip's in Hopedale. It was just over a 2 hour drive pulling a boat from Mandeville.

Thanks, guys.We usually fish around rigolets, but I heard the fresh water has been affecting it.
Couple of things I've heard asking around:
We could launch in rigolets and take 45 min boat ride to ShellBch in intercoastal.
Bayou Bienville would be closest but have to make sure gates are open.
If you don't know where to go other places and don't have experienced person, you could run a ground or hit debris.
--Any advice would be greatful. We would be pulling out of Madisonville. We're thinking of 'livin and learnin' type trip to start somewhere.

Takes me 1:35 pulling from Madisonville to Breton Sound Marina. Easy run to the rocks. Pretty sure anybody can catch fish along the rocks with Live shrimp.

That sounds pretty good idea. Any particular time of day?

I'm no expert, but I think you want to fish close to a high or low tide while the water is moving. You can google tides for any particular day for Shell Beach or Hopedale or wherever. Then again, fish are fish and will bite when the hell ever they are hungry
I think a lot of the Biloxi Marsh land in the area is posted, so watch out for fishing on it. Could be considered trespassing. I think it is ok to use it as just a waterway. Just my thoughts...

With the heat these days, the only time really is early in the morning. Launch at BSM and follow the boats outside to the MRGO. Easy way to catch fish

fished Biloxi Marsh this wk end. It was a 45 minute boat ride from Rigolets Estates. We cruised at around 35mph. If its calm I would just continue launching at the Rigolets.

Takes me approx 1:15 to get to Sweetwater Marina in Delacroix from Slidell.
That's where my last two fishing trips were and it was worth the drive.

Definitely make sure you have an overhead satelite map. For Delacroix, if you have a Pre-Katrina map would be great so you can try to avoid sunken islands and such.
I didn't know Delacroix AT ALL until 2 weeks ago. Now I have a general sense of the layout of the area. I have a smaller boat so unless I'm 100% certain the winds will be laying down all day, I will be sticking to the inside.
I'd recommend Oak River (River Aux Chenes). If you're launching from Sweetwater in Delacroix, Take Bayou Gentile (pronounced: bayou gentilly) out into Little Lake (usually marked lake petit on maps). Once out into little lake head south-south east to the North-South Pipeline(locals call it Pencil Canal). It's marked with a large hand-made plywood sign at the entrance to it. Pencil canal is a straight shot south to Oak River. Once there just start fishing the cuts and openings that dump into Oak River.
Good luck. I'm learning the area also so let me know if you ever need a fishing partner.

ETA: there's 2 launches in Delacroix and they're about a 1/4 mile from each other. The first is Serigne's. Don't go there. The poeple there are assholes. Sweetwater is the next one. Complete opposite of serigne's. Both launches require u to back down across the highway. Sweetwater has a "launch guide" who helps u line up with the launch and block traffic for u. On weekends it WILL BE JAM PACKED at either launch. As someone else said, get there EARLY! Not only to beat the crowds but to be on the water before the heat turns the bite off. Last week the bite turned off around 0900-0930. Not a single bit again. We were back at the launch for 1130 after cruising around looking for spots that should hold fish.
Again, gps helps, but I can't stress any hard to get a map of the area.

Can someone explain what this posted means and what you can't do. I was there this weekend fishing some canals and marshes that had the WMA signs all over, didn't know it means you can't fish. I woulda read the signs but I was busy being attacked by horseflies the size of birds.

As far as I know you can fish the wma's. I have never had a problem fishing around posted signs, I'm not on their land. I have heard you can't fish a man made canal on someone's posted land.(not sure on that rule though)
