Figured I'd ask this board instead of travel board. What's the OB brand of choice for larger duffel bag for flying? Obviously lots of variables, leather, canvas, cloth, etc. and size. This is for a longer trip. Need bigger than a carry on. This trip is mostly clothes, but next trip will likely be gear as well. Looks like Orvis discontinued my old "battenkill" luggage.

Filson large duffel. Had one 15 years use it all the time. More you use it the better it looks.

Cabelas Boundary Waters duffel bags would be an option. They are roll top water proof as well which would be good if you might be using it camping or outdoors.

I have a Northface and a Patagonia. I fly all the time and both bags seem to be indestructible.

I’d buy my Patagonia black hole again.

100l with wheels.

I only really use it on winter trips where all my gear is bulky AF

Filson makes really nice stuff. That said they were bought by private equity a while back and obscenely expensive.

If you want the canvas super-durable bags, Duluth Pack and Frost River are very cost competitive made-in-USA gear. I have a few and love them.

Also worth noting, Duluth Pack is not Duluth Trading. Pack is good domestic made stuff. Trading is not my cup of tea. Make sure you know the diff before you buy.

the airline you are flying decides the size and weight of all carry on luggage, call them or be prepared to end up with all your shite in a trash bag or be forced to leave it behind

This makes perfect sense, as I often find myself asking the travel board about fishing poles.

Depends of price point.

Eberlestock makes good, wheeled duffle bags for extended trips. I have one and like it.

My favorite is just a bit smaller and is an Ariat believe it or not. It is wheeled and big enough to carry about a weeks worth of clothes.

I have the 50L Sitka duffel and it’s the best I’ve ever had. Stuffed 5 days of clothes in it recently and carried it on the plane. Fit easily in the bin. 70L model would hold a ton but prob have to check it.

I've got the small and medium. Medium holds a ton & works great as my only bag for most trips. The small is great for a carry on when checking a bag for longer international trips.

I’ve got an REI brand rolling duffel that I’ve owned for about 12 years. It has stood up to countless airline baggage handlers.
