Used to be all climbers or lock ons. Box stand 90% of the time these days because 90% of the time I have a kid with me. I hate hunting out of a box stand. But they are great for kids. And to kick back and drink beer in, of course.

Have one box blind/food plot/feeder setup for the wife and when we take the kids. Corn and rice bran. Looks in two different directions about 200yds each way
One pop up blind in a group of bushes looking into a bottom no bait out lots of acorn trees. Bout 100yds furthest possible shot
One double ladder stand in oak bottom lots of acorns and I put some rice bran out to make them stop in an opening I have to one side.
one single man ladder looking down a couple fire lanes between 2 different size pine tress growth. Have a pipe corn feeder and rice bran out.
Have another pop up blind that I scout with and just take over my shoulder for when I'm walking and find a place to sit for a while.
Not much on the climber and lock on game. Gave it up a long time ago. Never seen an advantage to make it worth while

Open Tripod is my preference. I feel more... "one with nature". And it's easier to piss off of.

That's my gripe with a box stand... you can't hear shite. Jr. is about to be old enough to start hunting out of two man ladder stands though..

lock-on / ladder stand

IMO its easier to make too much noise in a box. Accidentally knock a wall or drop a bullet and the thing echos like a gong. Being in a tripod forces you to be a more disciplined hunter.
But if I'm hunting a specific buck, Idc what stand it is, I'll go there.

I used to be climber man, I'd climb anything and would go way high.
Now that I'm older I prefer the comfort of a box stand where I can move around etc etc drink beer if I want

cajuncommander's "one wit nature" comment sums my issue nicely, ironic that I'm not comfortable in box stands or enclosed ground blinds due to a lack visibility and hearing while they provide the most comfort...

100% boxstands on our property. I'm old and lazy.
I had a friend come hunt with us last year and he said "y'all aren't hunters, y'all are sitters"
I told him "no, we're killers"

I just like to be comfortable. Box stands can be comfortable, climbers can be too. I grown to not like tripods and ladder stands. I get fidgety and move around a lot and want to get down earlier on morning hunts. I will still hunt tripods and ladder stands, but I dread it sometimes. My legs and back get restless.

Use a mix of both. If im bow hunting, i prefer to use my climber or a lock on. Will bow hunt from tents if its an area with no good tall trees to support a climber. If its cold as shite or if im with someone, ill grab my rifle and some beer and go sit in a box or a tent. Ive had success from all.

At my AR club we get 3 claimed stands with a little territory around them. Mine are 2 box stands and an open tripod. I can shoot enough deer out of those but get bored sometimes because to me just sitting and waiting in the same spots every year doesn't seem like actually hunting.
My favorite hunt last year was one where I had looked at GoogleEarth history in late 2014, found a crease in the woods from a timber cut 20 years ago, scouted it at the end of the 2014 season, found rubs, scrapes and trails, dragged a ladder through woods in the offseason and set in the right spot. I picked the right day to hunt it in 2015 and nailed a decent 10 pt (weird 4x6).
That patch of woods got clearcut over the summer, but luckily I had scouted another area late last season, found another good spot and will sneak in there with a climber at some point.

I am in the process of building a ladder stand on steroids. More of an open top box against a huge cypress tree. Base will be 4ft x 3 ft with a hand rail around. Going to screw on hand rail spindles then secure camo netting with tie wraps. Will also have bench seat across the back.
