Before I go around getting estimates, what’s a ballpark # I should look to spend to add a metal & wood cover to my patio?

This is the look I want

If you have basic carpentry skills, a saw and a drill, you can easily do this yourself. Probably $400 worth of lumber/hardware and another couple hundred for corrugated metal.

Could easily pay 2-3x the cost for someone to do it. I'd call a handy friend and supply a cooler of beer and steaks.

eta: posted before picture, assumed freestanding. Attached to the house is slightly more complicated, but only because you have to worry about water intrusion. Still super easy to frame, but you'll need flashing, NP1 and someone capable of removing siding cleanly.

Halliburton is correct. And it will be so hot underneath in the summer you won’t be able to sit under it. I recommend what’s called an insulated patio cover.

Ceiling fans suck. Get a couple of high velocity fans in different directions.

One like the top picture, $12-$16 a square foot.

I built the same thing that is in the picture. Heat is no different under it than insulated sheets. If it were being closed in, that could be a different story.

Ceiling fans are fine if you get a good outdoor fan with a high RPM. But you will have to worry about ceiling height.

Like being in a convection oven when the August heat cooks that metal all day.

I upvoted you because I acidentally downvoted you and felt bad. So now you're even again with one of each. Lol

Put a 17x20 up about 18 months ago. Matched two pitches, included gutters and downspouts. Includes center to run electric line through.

Uninsulated was $1600. Insulated was $3100. We went with the insulated version. Has been worth every single penny. You will regret not going with it the first time you’re at someone’s house who did get it. Trust me.

Can also do a more rustic look with cedar or cypress.

OP, 10'x10' is not even big enough to put a small table with chairs under.

You really need to look at the way your house sits as to which way is north, south, east and west.

Kinda what I was thinking too. If it were me, before I paid money for a 10x10 I’d buy or borrow a 10x10 pop up tailgate tent and put it where you intend and see if it’s really big enough for you.

Btw I got a few quotes local to Livingston parish and came out average around 14sq for non insulated

I have one similar to this with uninsulated galvalume. I think it is R panel. I don't have any heat issues but do plan to install some ceiling fans. I basically made a pergola and covered it. Make sure to have plenty of overhang so the rain doesn't splash on the edge of your concrete

I have 1400$ in this 14' x 52' patio. I did all the work myself. The slab was already there. You can save a lot by DIY!
