False River Public Boat Launches

Gonna take the family to False River tomorrow for a little tubing and boating, and haven’t been there in years. What’s the best place to launch at?

We launch at Moreils several times a year. I prefer it over Satterfields or Sand Bar.

We always go to la Express on the island. 5 bucks and don't have to drive all the way into new roads. I'd never launch at sandbar. That place can be a madhouse.

The main public launch in New Roads or LA Express on the island are the best two. Personally on a weekend I would go to LA Express because I find it easier to park. The public launch is nice, but there’s a lot more traffic being it’s not strictly boat launch parking there. It’s 5 bucks at the LA Express launch.

You have to pay to launch?
No, but with church on Sundays, parking is very limited in the mornings.

Does morells charge? I'll be testing out a motor I just worked on so I don't want to run far. Anybody know any closer places to St Francisville other than launch at the river and running up bayou sara?

Hope you’re a better mechanic than me!

Probably not, I'm trying not to launch there. I'd hate to end up in Baton Rouge or something.

False River Public options
Morrells- Good launch, free, can be tight on Sundays with parking being church is across street.
Satterfields- Good launch, free, parking can be a hassle with their parking lot setup at times (this is next door to morells)
Sandbar- Launch seems to be under construction, wouldn't try there.
La express on island- (Probably best option) Good launch, free, open parking, not many use this launch unless during the fishing tournament.
Jim's bar- Good launch, parking is open and generally good (gravel), would not suggest as water can be shallow on that side of the river in places currently.
If you would feel more comfortable using a private launch for testing, let me know and I will get you an email address. We have one.

Thanks for the offer, I'll probably give LA express a try. The motor runs, just would prefer to not run it where there is current like in the river.

Not a problem!
You will be fine there. Nice paved parking lot. Plenty room to spin around and then park afterwards. Good piers. Wide launch. Not used much besides big weekends or fish tournaments.
