Used all his stuff he's given me over the years.
Didn't think it'd bother me this much but it is. My kids asked how'd inknownto do all this and for how many people.
You take for granted how much you learn over the years and you just know how to do it like it's automatic.
Figured the OB would get it.
Happy GF.
If yall have your pops still.
to them.

My dad turned 85 today and I took him fishing. Had a great day.

My pops is still around but this was the first year that I remember that he didn't hunt with me. He said he didn't feel up to it. It's rough seeing him get old, seems like it happened overnight.

Fish fry’s with my PawPaw and MawMaw. MawMaw would soak them and coat them. Make hush puppies. PawPaw would get the fryer going and fry them up. It was a family gathering.
PawPaw played bass and Showbud keyboard for Hank Sr back in the day. Then played for the Bailes Bros at Louisiana Hayride. Uncles played guitar for local bands. Pickin and Grinnin till the lights got turned out.
Just about everyone is gone. Me and my uncle’s are the only ones left.
Nostalgia.

Sorry to hear this. Yes, everyone needs to enjoy their family while they are still here with us.

That’s awesome. I wish I still had time spend with my dad so he can see the people that his grand children have become. We lost my dad in 2019. June he would’ve made 65.
I’ve been thinking about him more and more over the past few weeks. Not many of my relatives on my dad’s side made it past 60. I’ve been doing a lot of self reflection recently and made me realize that I need to slow down and cherish the time I have with my family rather than thinking about my career all the time.

For some reason, most of my peers think they are all going to live until 90. Sorry but people start dropping off left and right in their mid-60's. Just open the advocate's obit page. And tbh, living until 90 rarely is enjoyable. Those post-80 years are usually not for wimps even without major health occurrence.
Just something to brighten the day!

Yea people save and work till 65 for a few good years of retirement and the fact is most are gone by 70-75

Had an uncle explain it to me. He said when you get older your mind still wants to go, but the body doesn't.
He's deceased and now I fully understand what he was saying.

My dad died in 69 at 48 years old. Don't remember him frying fish but do remember him buying a huge steak he would request the butcher to cut. It was a slab. He would marinate it with some kind of french dressing and spices. Cook it after church on the pit. All of us would get a piece or chunk. He liked rare steaks and had to cut off his piece because we couldn't chew that cow flesh like he could.

Been fishing with my 87 year old father in law three out of the last 4 days. He will go until I say uncle.
