As a family we usually go other places to camp, but looking here to get one of the group sites in December. How easy is it to find firewood in the park, or is it suggested to bring our own? Also, are there any places to go at night to play capture the flag, manhunt, etc?

Have you checked out Bogue Chitto State Park? In Louisiana, we mostly stick to the state parks for camping.

There usually isn’t much firewood laying around at the state parks I’ve been to.

Not sure how the group sites are set up, but out of everywhere I’ve ever camped, this park is the most congested with everyone being right next to each other and hearing noise all night

Yeah, this is why we typically avoid it

We used to play Ninja in the woods at night back in the day

Looks like the basic group primitive sites are unavailable for a weekend

I'd give Chicot or Lake Fausse Point a try.

I’ve camped Fountainbleau plenty of times and what you seek is not here. This is one of the more heavily active parks in the state. Most firewood is cleaned out and IIRC, there may be curfew to stay within the campgrounds which has room but it’s definitely not a KOA style party park.

Built my own portable firepit with an old firebowl.

Some tubing and fireglass and haul it camping. Turn on the propane bottle and light er up.

Tired of looking for wood on a cold morning with kids and wife.

Last time we were at south toledo the guy across the way yelled at me one morning telling me I was cheating. It was pretty funny.

There is plenty of wood to be found in the park. If I remember correctly, we just had a massive hurricane.
