Full Propane tank valve stuck

Standard 20 lb tank that I had refilled last summer, I tried connecting it to different devices, can't get anything out of it. I'm tempted to take it to a grocery store and just swap it out like it is empty.
Is there a better way to deal with this thing?

Look at the rubber grommet inside the tank valve.
There will be a metal piece inside the rubber.
Make sure it is not “cockeyed”. If so. Put it back straight using a nail or something similar.
It’s similar to a qwik connect on an air line. The little tit on the appliance hose connection is not depressing the safety valve.
Hope this helps.

If the above doesn’t work, sit it in the sun to warm up. Tap on the pressure regulator a few times with it hooked up and valve open. Sometimes I have to repeat this a couple times before I can get propane to flow. For some reason all of my propane users, it seems the regulators have some issue with a full tank. Otherwise exchange cylinder.could also try bleeding off a little pressure via the vent screw and see if that helps. Just make sure you use leather gloves and don’t get liquid propane on you. Put out your cigarettes/open flames lol.

This has worked for me. Had to bleed 2-3 times. Then opened the valve on the BBQ pit slowley.
I agree, seems like when "overfilled" or really topped off.
I was going to exchange, but didn't seem right being it was full. $

Not sure if this is your problem or not but I had issues like this. Now I close the tank valve and open the bbq valves or RV stove valves. Let the excess gas leave the lines. Then I close the bbq lines or rv stove lines and turn on the tank valve 1/4 turn. Let it charge the lines. Then open the bbq or stove lines and light then. When they come on either keep them on to cook or turn off to light soon
When done turn off all valves. So far that has worked for me. And thanks to the TD replies that taught me this.
