I'm looking at some fun places to kayak around BR. I've been hitting up the LSU Lakes and Greenwood BREC Park, but I'm assuming there are other areas.

The bayou behind Highland Road park has been opened up. I'm sure you can Google it. The guy who cleared it has a blog.

Blood River is 35-40 minutes east of Baton Rouge, with very little boat traffic north of Warsaw Marina.
Plenty of sac-a-lait, bream, bass, & catfish. Much nicer waterway to paddle compared to the creeks and bayous in EBR parish.

I kayak the intracoastal canal and bayou Choctaw which branches off of it. Launch in brusly.
Bayou Plaquemine also has several launches.

I kayak fished Bayou Fountain a couple times. Didn't come out with a whole lot to show for it, but I caught some good sized stumpknockers and a couple choupic and bass. I heard there are good sized bass back there, but I didn't catch anything worth bragging about. It's a cool place to fish though, and I haven't been back there since that guy and his crew cleared the whole place out.

Comite, Amite, and any of the Fla parishes rivers.
Cross the river and hit the basin. Pat's Bay, Upper Grand River Flats, Two O'Clock Bayou.

Blind River, launch at St. James Boat Club on Airline Hwy and cross under Airline hwy bridge heading up river. You will rarely see a boat up that way due to the low bridges at airline and railroad tracks

I'll be going out to LSU lakes in the afternoons a couple times a week for some exercise. Have to go easy on the knee for a while. Maybe I'll see you out there. I'll be in the orange kayak.
