At this point it’s probably what you can get.
FWIW, there isn’t anything wrong with the Predator brand. Researched them heavily a while back and everyone on here and online said they are good.

I have 2 predators for going on 5 years and no issues. Keep fresh non ethanol gas in it, run it every so often, and change the oil. They will serve you well. Buy one .

Buy whatever is available. Not much difference between portable generators today.

I have a Predator. The 3500/4250. Ran it 23 hours a day for 18 days after Ida.
I did break it in properly and run it under a load every month for 20 minutes.

Generac 6500. Never a problem. Regular maintenance and run it once a month under load

I have a predator 3500 that I ran camping for years and then through Laura for weeks.
Grab and ngk spark plug and some rotella T6 and let it eat.

Look I have a generac no problems but some people do have issues. I had a very very good installation company, and that’s important. But if you don’t buy the extra 750-1000 for the computer switch you are crazy.
I have one normal size generator for a 6000 square foot 3 story house with 3 AC units, pool, blah blah blah. With the switches can run the entire house and it does. I would have done this long ago if I knew they had these smart switches

Go big and get the predator 9500 inverter. I second the notion of using Rotella T6 (5W-40).

It’s one of the higher rated brands and people rave about them especially for the cost. Not everything Harbor Freight is garbage. Their little quiet inverters are stupid hard to find and cost like 1/3 what the Honda ones do.

Get one that can be converted to use natural gas.

I have a duromax 4500 inverter. Ran for 8 days during Ida and 1 day for Francine. 6 gallons of gas will last 24 hours.
Also runs on propane. Set up with 2 bottles will last a day. Less than $1k from Amazon.
Can run 2 window units, fridge and freezer. Not sure how big the window units are.

Wound up having to drive 7 hrs there n back to get one. Predator 5000. Quieter than I expected.
How are you guys doing your cords to run so many items off of one gen? I have 2 120v outlets on the Predator and don’t want to kill the thing but never dealt with this crap before. Currently running fridge and will swap cord to box freezer later when I get home. So any and all expertise/tips you fellas can offer is greatly appreciated
FWIW for all the technical knowledge I have in my profession I’m a self admitted idiot when it comes to all things electrical.

Look up item 57713 at harbor freight. It connects to your 30amp outlet on your generator and splits it into 3 separate plugs.
I have a longer cable than the 57713 item that is flat and will go under a door or through a window easier. It came from tractor supply, but a hardware store probably sells them. Any of these are probably gonna be hard to get right now. The flat cable is 126700599.
I did have to get an adapter for my old champion generator to connect it, but your 30amp outlet is probably ready for either cable.

I have the predator 5000. Dual fuel. I’ve had for 2 years. No issues. Money well spent. Especially when you got freezers full of meat.

Figured I was one more day from losing all my deer meat. Thank God things worked out just in time. ;)

Ran it to my panel. Made sure my service disconnect was off and used a 12-gauge extension cord because it was the best I had for Ida. Bought a 30 amp plug from Lowes and ran the 2 hots to 2 30-amp breakers in my main panel. Ground to my bus bar. Turned off the AC and any large breakers, and then just turned the breakers on in my sub panel to what I wanted to run.
FYI, I ran a Window unit, fridge/freezer, all LED lights, and every electrical outlet in the house and ceiling fans off a 5k Generator.

Muchos grassyazz. Just the kind of info that will help…, thanks chief. ;)

Get whatever you can get your hands on. If possible, a tri fuel. My predator chews through spark plugs, so get several extra.

You can make up a 30 amp cord with two male ends and plug it into your dryer outlet. Just be sure to cut the power off to the main breaker so you don't back feed the line. All the outlets in the house will have electricity and the lights will function as normal.
