Getting rid of bats from house

Got a family living in an overhang soffit area, thankfully they're enclosed and not in my attic (yet). Anyone know how to get rid of them? (humanely would be first option)

So I know a guy. Bats are kind of his thing. His job is to take care of bats for people. I hesitate to say but, they call him

call your local cooperative extension
they’ll know someone who can relocate them
I might suggest you try installing a bat house in your yard and try to keep them around.

Inspect the attic. Good chance they’ve found a way in. Regardless, you need them gone. Water hose for starters. Remember, they’re a protected species.

Get one of those high frequency ultrasonic pest control devices from Amazon.

Bring them to my house. I would love some bats around here.

I’ve heard that wasp spray might work. Some didn’t like that I said they are protected. I did that for your benefit. Don’t go telling people that you sprayed them with wasp spray. But it might work.

Google nuisance trapper in your area. I had to get some bees out of a house I was selling in Jan of 17, all of those bees died but there weren’t any other options. A good trapper will know when to remove them so they live.

Had a family of bats living in my garage attic. Found the hole they were using to go in and out. Waited till after dusk and watched them all fly out. Then went and fixed the hole. I still see them flying at dusk but they’re not in my attic anymore.

Try opening up or disturbing an area near their home and see if that will force them to move on. They're remaining because they have built a comfortable spot that they feel protected. Bats are a good thing to have...just not anywhere in your home!

I've heard they don't like the smell of Naptha (moth balls). Hang some in a bag made from panty hose.

1st find where they are getting in at.
2nd Get a bat house, and mount it about 10ft up a tree or pole that gets plenty of sun during the day.
3rd Go to a hardware store and get a one way flap valve about 1-1.5" in diameter, and install it in the hole so it will open out only. May need to get some great-stuff expanding foam to fill any voids around the valve.
Works great, lets them leave and not get back in, and if you put the bat house up for a few days ahead of time will keep them around which is a good thing. Had to do it at my old house. Took about 2 hrs total to do all of it.
