GI Bridgeside Cabins

Thinking about renting a room at Bridgeside, and I was hoping to hear some experiences. I'll probably rent a slip (if available) to dock the boat overnight, and even if not, I'm worried about theft. I'll remove the poles and some easily stolen items, but should I remove the batteries or any other equipment?

Just secure the stuff that’s not bolted down. Rods, tackle boxes, and coolers. Lock your hatches.

I’ve rented a slip out there for many weekends over the 10 yrs or so I had a place on the island. Never had anything stolen but I never left my poles on the boat overnight. Did leave my landing net many nights and it never disappeared. Only ever locked one compartment and it held my minn kota remote and boat documents. I’ve been off the island since Ida so I’m not sure if it’s gotten worse since then

I'm not saying that by any means, but people have gotten worse. There's only so much a marina owner can do to prevent it. I've only done day trips or stayed at friends' camps where I didn't have to worry about it.

Although conveniently located, Bridgeside is a cluster frick during the summer. I wouldn't leave anything on a boat that's not permanently secured.

Staying at Hurricane Hole Hotel is an option too and you can leave your boat in the water without worrying about theft. It's pricier but the rooms are great and have a patio with view over the marina. Nice when they have bands. Also have a pool and other extras...

My boss leaves his boat in the bridgeside slips all weekend about 6 times a year over the last 3 years. He leaves poles and ice chests. Hasn't had a problem.

Check out Grand Isle Marina also. Not nearly the commotion of Bridgeside. Bridgeside’s cabins have been rebuilt since Ida and may be nicer. You will be fine regarding theft, but you should safely store your tackle.

Y’all are paranoid. I’ve left my boat in the water at BS multiple times and the only thing I’ll unload is rods. And sometimes if I’m feeling lazy, I’ll leave those too. Everything’s on camera over there and buggy would have that blasted on Facebook if stuff was stolen.

I stayed there about 4 weeks ago. The cabins are (of course) redone after the hurricane and are better than they've ever been. The marina is well stocked and the food at the counter spectacular. I did not leave a boat in water, but many around me did as well as leaving boats/trailers under the cabins. Felt safe to me.

Stayed at Bridgeside many times and left the boat in a slip overnight with all equipment many times with no issues. I'm sure things have been stolen before but it's a rarity. Have stayed in the new cabins several times and they are nicer than before. Hoping to go stay and fish before June comes.
