Anyone know the story of its demise as a member club? We were in it for one year in the mid 89’s when J D ran it and were flooded out have way through the season. I remember dad saying that there were many more members than he was originally told by J D and rebuilding our new camp want worth the hassle.

I could be wrong but I think it's still a member club. Know a couple of guys in it that have built camps there.
One I'd say I know pretty well. He told me that his membership is $13K/yr

Ok, mine was $1,500 and dads was $2,000 in 1983.
Bach Club shared the island with GC when we were on it.

Not sure if anyone shares it nowadays. I do remember him telling me that there was a family dispute that had a piece of it the family leased to GC. Family didn't pay taxes and GC went and bought it at sheriff sale. Want to say that he told me that was around 2006ish

It was a popular place back in the 80s and 90s My step mom had brothers that hunted that place for years. They had camps south of the island on Hwy 15 They were all from simmesport and owned a big logging company. It was called jeasonne logging

When JD and the Ks split mid 90s we hunted there for free. Most fun I’ve ever had hunting to this day. We even slaughtered doves in the soybean Feilds. Killed my first buck there.
Not sure what happened but after 3 years something restructured and us regular joes got left out.

It is, there are just less of them paying far more.

Sometime during the 90's they restructured and the part JD ran was reduced to a fraction of what it once, and he was eventually pushed out. Since then the majority landowners slowly bought out alot of the smaller landowners. Some tracts were pushed to sheriff sale.
It was a corporate camp for a few years but is currently a member club for around $12K a year. Supposedly still awesome hunting but recent floods have hurt it.

I remember a guy that lived in simmesport that had a club on the island around 1996-97 Had about 12 members on that lease. I believe his name was tommy. He had a camp south of the deer park store on hwy 15

Pushed out or arrested again? Read he was busted on the island with some bundles.
The fishing was off the hook in the shoot, almost as good as the Giles lakes but very few fished.

Can someone please explain to me who or what is the "K's"? I apologize in advance for having the dumb arse.

The first letter of the last name of the family that owns Glascock.

Correct, they do.
Cousin and I were run out of there once when the river was up. We were 16. Didn't have a clue we were on them. Big K rides up, tells us we were on his place, tells us to leave. Cousin argues with him. K leaves, green jeans shows up about 20mins later. Gives us both tickets for no licenses, then tells us to keep fishing.

He owns a bit and leases the rest, there are quite a few landowners involved or where unless something has very recently changed.

We were actually in the hunting club at that same time. I believe 1990 was our last year there. It was the final year of the Royal Screwing of my Dad/Brother/Self by J.D. Richardson (I'll tell the story in another post). I heard nothing about it for ~10 years, and I happened to be talking to one of my customers that had just returned from a paid (ranch-style) hunting trip at Glascock Island. He said it was $3500 per hunt back then. I honestly haven't heard anything about it since then, but I am going to be crossing the levee going there in 6.5 miles because I happen to be going that way and curiosity is killing me. Will update if interested.

Yep, would like to hear the JD story

Would think he passed many years ago.
He wasn’t a spring chicken when I met him 40 years ago.
