Taking a 5 hr trip with a group on an Alaskan cruise. Includes gear and shore lunch. Cost is about $400/person. Thinking a $100 tip for the two of us going assuming they put in the effort for us. Adequate? Only other guide trip was in Jackson Hole and I can’t remember what was recommended then.
TIA.

Sure that’s a great tip for 5ths or 8hrs.
Effort and friendly is what I tip off of.
Follow up with deets of your trip.

When are you going? Flying or part of a cruise?

Pulling into Ketchikan, AK right now. Of course the cellphone pics do it no justice.

Man, that sounds like an awesome trip. I think that $100 is more than adequate. I am jealous!

Nice! The wife and I went on an Alaska Cruise in April last year. We loved it so much, we are going back in July this year, hoping to see more wildlife.
Didn't do a fishing charter, though. Too much money for a poor old man like me.
I fished in Alaska years ago on a work trip to Kenai. I had a one of the Unocal engineers, who was a local, take me out with his father-in-law on their boat in the Kenai River to go silver salmon fishing. It was a great experience.
Have a great time!
ETA: we went on Norwegian. We're going back on the same ship this year.

We are talking about a boat trip and not a fly fishing deal I hope...
If so, go $200 total tip on a $800 trip. Or at least $150. All depends on how well he does and how he treats you. Thats the most important thing

Ended up with $100. Guide was great and worked hard. Shore lunch was very good. Fish cooperated a bit, but no one had an amazing day. High light was a king salmon smoking my jig on the way back to the boat. Made two epic runs stripping drag. Of course they are out of season, but it was fun.
Wife got a great video of a bald eagle grabbing one of our fish, but Imgur hates it.
