Gun Cabinet Recommendations

I’m inheriting around 6-8 rifles from a grandpa, and have a 12 gauge and AR-15. Do y’all have any gun cabinet recommendations? I’d like something that’s kid/theft safe.

Any decent safe is going to keep kids out. I have a liberty safe and it’s keeps everything secured from my kids which is it’s main purpose. It will stop an unprepared/opportunistic thief, but a person with a few power tools could cut through it. Nothing is completely thief proof.

You can usually find these around $500 at Tractor Supply. My dad got me one for christmas this past year from the Balck Friday sale for $500.

You can get a generic safe as long as you bolt it in the right place.
Don't store paperwork that needs firesafe.
Bolt in corner with the open side against the wall sonthey can't get leverage to pry door open or knock over an pry.

I have that Winchester safe from Tractor Supply. Is it the best, no. Does it lock my guns away, yup. It'll offer some mild fire protection and is placed in a pocket where it'd be the hardest to pry open. I know it's not impossible to get into, but for the money, I can't complain.

I have a nice gun cabinet and dont want it but unfortunately I live in Alabama and you probably dont want to make the trip. It only holds about 6 rifles, but has shelving at the bottom for the ammo and cleaning kits.
I use a safe as my gun cabinet is as unsecured as one rock through glass.

Check the models.
For a few years they were using the Chinese fireboard that was rusting out guns inside.
I think it was the Pony models

Kid safe, just buy a gun cabinet. If the thieves want your guns, they'll get in any safe.
I bought one of these when the kids were born, and it's served me just fine. Yes, I'd love a $2,000 badass fireproof safe, but I had other expenses at the time.
$150 at Tractor Supply and it holds 7-8 rifles. They'll go on sale at Academy for around $100 every now and then.

This right here is pretty important. They should never even know you have a safe.

You have to trust the safe to be difficult to open enough to where they are not in and out if they are the one or two that even knows about it. My 36 gun safe is in my closet in the master bedroom. They have no business in my room, much less the closet.

I think cabinet (kid proof and easier to place) and real safe combo is the way to go.
So much time spent online talking about safes being ineffective - I don't know where y'all live, but 99.99% of burglaries here are by room temp IQ imbeciles who definitely aren't cutting or torching into a safe.

Get a decent gun safe but understand its limitations
Supplement with a $150/year insurance policy from Eastern insurance which covers theft, fire, loss, etc just about everything except flood…. Covers $30,000 worth of guns and “valuables” you do not have to list any unless it is over $10k, and has a 100 deductible
I have asked before with no answers, has anyone had first hand experience with a home burglary or fire that had a gun safe , and was the safe breached ? Condition of contents after fire?

Don't skimp and buy a cheap azz safe. If you plan for a safe to hold 12 guns, buy a 24 gun safe. If suitable, bolt the safe to the floor.
