Figured at least a few of you baws have helped with or held your own gun raffle for charity events and what not. While I’ve participated in a ton, Inever won and do not know the wrap up for winners.
How did you do it? What were some mistakes that you made? What have been some good ideas you have used or seen? Did you buy the gun and give it to the winner or did you use a gun shop so the winner has to fill out the paperwork? What are some guns raffled that brought in a bunch of interest? What is was your best pricing for a ticket? Did people enjoy cheaper tickets to increase their name in the pool or were more people drawn to more expensive tickets and less names in the raffle?

You will need to find a shop that will run the background check for you.
I've bought some before that were $5 per and some that were $20 per some that were more. Kinda depends on the gun you're giving away.
If you could find an AR right now, you could get a bunch of interest.
You need to tell the gun shop what you are doing and what it's for. They may help you out on the price of the gun.

Get gun shop to donate a gun depending on who/charity the raffle proceeds go to.
Get the winner to complete everything at the gun shop.
$20/ticket usually sells pretty good, depending on the gun.
ARs and high end shotguns did the best.

What is the raffle for, just asking because if it’s for a hunting club or something like that you should check with the land owner and make sure that they allow a gun raffle. Weyerhaeuser owns our lease and we could not raffle off a firearm.

I've been to many Friends of the NRA Banquets
The Baton Rouge one was one of the top banquets in the country year after year.
There is a raffle called the wall of guns...all the guns on the walls at all of the different location's banquets were just above $500
Where Baton Rouge was so successful was that they would sell 10 chances at $100...
at the banquets anyway...People were much more intrigued to have a 1 in 10 chance even spending $100
Baton Rouge would do 10 or 12 giveaways every year in just this one fundraising category.
Whereas all of the other banquets sold tickets for $10 and had to sell 100 tickets ...so only one gun was given away the entire night by the time all the tickets sold.
I'm sure it all depends on the clientele you are reaching out to with your tickets...
BR had a lot of high rollers I guess...they would sell 65 prepaid tables of 9 at $75 per seat on the regular
but the served Filet mignon and shrimp.
the next most expensive other banquets were only $35 seat...
TLDR: know your target market and how deep their pockets are before you decide a price per ticket and how many tickets

The raffle will be to raise money for a coworker battling cancer.
I’m double checking with the company if it is allowed to be passed around the employees.

That’s super in-depth. Thank you for all those ideas.

Geeze. I may be naïve, but I can't see how they would have any responsibility or liability for a gun raffled by a hunting club.

I agree but they wouldn’t let us, we did some Academy gift cards and Fish cooker.
