Had new Zeon Zyosia put down in March

I live in North Texas and had Bermuda forever but had bald spots because I have trees in the front yard. Finally decided to get zoysia put down in March. I called a local company that had a good recommendation from a friend.
I'm a novice with grass but I noticed they trimmed the old Bermuda down to the stumps and put dirt on top of it and then the sod.
It took a while to come up, but I started seeing good growth from the spots under the tree, but the exposed side and front of the yard have been dormant and then I noticed it was growing Bermuda. Fast forward to now, and its probably 20% Zoysia, 50% Bermuda and 30% bald. I've been watering plenty.
Im really pissed because I called the place after a month and told them the Bermuda was seeping through and they said thats normal and the Zoysia would overtake it, but that's far from what's happening. What should I do? What should I tell them?
They obviously didn't get rid of the Bermuda when they trimmed it down.
TIA

Hoping that you're going to smother out bermuda with anything other than herbicide is a very poor plan.
What type of person did you hire to do the job?
Any true "landscaper" would know better than that.
I guess I'd be attempting to demand that they come back, rip it all out, make sure the bermuda is gone and/or dead, and then start over with sod.

I would get them to come out and look at it and fix it because they didn't get the Bermuda cleared out. They need to roundup it, let that die, and then redo the Zoysia because Bermuda is hard to get rid of. It also looks like there is to much for the Zoysia to choke out.
As an aside or fyi, Zoysia starts to grow later in the season then other grasses. I live in Central Tx and I've had Palisade Zoysia for a few years and it has been great. It's the best shade grass I've ever had under two big live oak trees.
But it is just now starting to green up and become active. I've mowed my backyard St. Augustine several times this spring but haven't had to mow the zoysia yet because its just starting to grow. I'm still probably a few weeks out from needing to mow it.

I used Plano Landscaping and Sod. They have good reviews on Google and my neighbor used them(their yard looks great).
It’s frustrating because I always email them and they just tell me they will forward to the project manager that did the job
That’s what I needed to know. If they refuse to come and replace the sod or give me my money back what are my options?

#1 if they won't come out and look, bad review them on all the socials, and try to speak to the project managers manager.
Unfortunately, you don't have many options but probably start over. In my opinion that is to much Bermuda for the Zoysia to choke out and I would expect your Zoysia while not actively growing right now to look better then it does in your pics.
Bermuda is hard to kill. I did my yard myself. I used a herbicide (Round Up) to kill the existing grass. Waited for it to die, Removed as much as I could, brought in 2 to 3 inches of fresh dirt, and planted the Zoysia on top. But the main thing you need to kill the Bermuda first in my opinion.
If you want it wouldn't hurt to mow or weed eat the bermuda as low as possible and wait a few weeks to see if the Zoysia perks up considering it becomes active later then other grasses.

Ughh thanks. So frustrating.
I’m guessing there’s no way possible to spot treat the Bermuda?

Lol that’s hilarious. They did a shite install. You can’t just scalp bermuda and lay sod on top. There should have been multiple rounds of nonselective herbicide before you installed new sod at a minimum. Curious as to what made you switch to zoysia? St augustine would have been a better choice for shade. Or the best choice would be to cut the tree down.

HOA notice. Have a large nice tree in front and half of it was dead. Many people on our street have switched because we have so many trees

Zeon zoysia is “shade tolerant” but it’s often oversold by sod growers and landscapers. I would either cut the tree down or change the landscape. Don’t try to make grass grow where it doesn’t want too.

I don’t care which board you choose to post on, but you might get a few more looks at your post if you put it on the home and garden forum.
I love the look of these types of zoysia.
I would think that as the Zoysia becomes more established, the thicker it will get and will crowd out the bermudagrass. The herbicide fluazifop (Ornamec by Ortho) will selectively kill Bermuda out of zoysia, without injuring the zoysia. It’ll probably be an ongoing process to keep bermuda at bay.
Just google your question, or “page Ronk/Crawdude” on home & garden forum on this website.

New Herbicide to Remove Bermuda from Zoysia.
This product plus fusillade II is supposed to remove Bermuda from zoysia. I would read up on it.

I agree with all this, but many people are in circumstances where they can't cut down trees. I have 2 25-30 plus year old live oaks in my front yard. I also have a HOA that requires two trees and green grass to avoid the letters.
My front lawn gets 50/50 dappled light so not much direct sunlight. It's hardly an ideal situation to grow grass, but I take pride in doing the best I can to have nice curb appeal.
I've been thru 3 St. Augstine lawns and have Zoysia now. St. Aug just won't hold up in my shade conditions and Bermuda would have no chance. In my humble opinion, Zoysia is the best grass for shade situations. It's fairly drought tolerant as well. And another benefit is it feels premium. I love walking on my Zoysia lawn.
One drawback to Zoysia is it must be dethatched. There's no way around it. Most Zoysia are also slow growers and speaders, so if you damage it, it will show for a while.
I only use Microlife products (6-2-4 All Purpose & Humates Plus) on mine and have had the best front yard I've ever had for my shade situation.
This is all just my opinion for growing grass in Texas under shade trees.

Crap guys I’m so sorry but I forgot we had a home and garden page. I just have my favorites and it wasn’t one of them.
Thanks for the tips. Want to start right away with killing the Bermuda.

Ok stupid question as you guys know Im a sod novice.
When you guys say kill the Bermuda, do I just spray on the existing Bermuda only? Spray the whole lawn? Or pick the Bermuda out like a weed and spray the root?
