Honda Rancher vs Honda Foreman

Getting rid of my 03 Rancher 350. Which model should I re-power with the 420 Rancher or the 500 Foreman?
I hear the Rancher has more "power" than the Foreman.. IDK why if the Foreman is bigger....
Anyone have any thoughts

I think it may have to do with weight of a foreman vs a rancher. You get more seat room and its an overall bigger bike but not much more powerful imo. Their almost the same machine but the Rancher is a smaller mid sized chassis while the Foreman if a full sizes chassis.
The foreman has more load and tow capacity and larger 25" wheels.

Thanks, I'm really leaning towards the Foreman. What about the power steering thing? Is it worth it?
My Rancher is electric shift and I had zero problems with it but knew of people who had probs. So I'll go with elec shift again

The foreman is lower geared.
That's why the 420 seems to have more power because it has more top end.
If you had good luck with your last ES I wouldn't push it and buy another lol.
Only about 20 percent of the electric shifts don't have problems.

For work or play?
For work: Foreman 500 w/footshift
For play: Rancher 420 IRS.
Hard to hold a beer and shift an ES.

I bought a brand new rancher in February. I don't know about the power difference but, it has all the power that I need. and, the clearance is phenominal on the new ones.

I would go with the foot shifter. IRS is worth it if you trail ride any.
Sidenote: Just put down my deposit on this bad boy. Can't wait to fly home next month and bring my Mud Pro in for a trade in to buy a roof, winch, skid plate, and bumpers.

I have a rancher 420, we recently sold the Foreman 500. The rancher is way more fun to ride, nimble, fast, light in the mud. The foreman had more low end power and was better for work around the house.
The rancher fits my needs more than the foreman did, the power steering was pretty nice, but the 420 is so much lighter and steers easily without it.

power steering is really not needed unless you have a huge bike with huge tires. My mud pro needed it when I would swamp it up to the racks. Arms would be dead after a day of riding.
I look at it as something else that will break. There is a reason my old 85 atc is still running fine. Its simple

I bought the 420 Rancher instead of the Foreman because of the size and weight of the Foreman.
Only thing I wished I would have gotten was the power steering. Riding through thick woods and having to maneuver in tight quarters is so much easier with power steering. Mine had a straight axle also and I never got into a situation where that was a problem.
I use mine for mudriding, trail riding, hauling firewood and pulling trees to the camp for firewood.

They're both workhorses.
Had the foreman 500, it did everything I wanted it to and never had a problem. Then I bought the 420 about 2 years ago. I put the same mud tires on it (27 in mudzillas) and it's done everything the foreman did. I will say, as already mentioned, the rancher is much lighter than the foreman and a little smaller. I went with the rancher because I have no need for a humongous arse bike. They'll both pull crap, get you to the stand, and play in the mud all day just fine.
ETA: Get the foot shift

I had the Rancher then sold it and got a Rubicon.
Rubicon is a freaking beast.
No regrets... None

How much does a new rancher run anyways?
