I’m not on the up and up when comes to salt water fishing. My boys begged to go, so wife and I booked a room in shell beach for June 11-13. With all this rain and seeing where they might have flooded roads- should we cancel the room?
We have until June 6th to cancel. It will break my boys heart, any back up plan suggestions or should the fishing still be okay with the high water/a lot of added fresh rain water?

That water can recede in a span of 24-48 hrs. It doesnt back up for a long time.

By that time, the water should be back to normal levels. I would not cancel.

Consider getting a charter, grab lunch / dinner at Tee Wee's by Campo's marina and enjoy your time down there.

The moquito's have been terrible in the evenings so prep for that.

Water will be back down by then, it goes down quick once the wind slows.

Yall go get em! Note there's a big (but fun) rodeo at Hopedale marina June 12-13, the Italian American Fishing Rodeo. Good cause, good food, very kid friendly. I have plans to attend myself if weather is decent, kids and wife too.

I agree with this. The winds have been brutal this spring as have the tides. Other than some throwbacks and a bunch of gafftops, I have been skunked on the last several trips. The water is filthy. I fished the waters and islands in the Lake of Second Trees area recently and did nothing. The guides can get you out to cleaner water.

Hop over to the other side of the MRGO, fish along the MRGO itself (always stays clean on upper end), Lake Anastasia, Lake Eloi, better chance of clean water. Been catching plenty trout over oyster beds with plastics under corks.

Wil try it Tigah D. I have also made the run out to the oyster reefs by Christmas Camp Lake, Jules Cutoff, and Comfort with no luck. Are the reefs in Athanasio marked with PVC poles?

Is the best route to lake Eloi, Athanasio, and the MRGO with the long rocks is to follow the bayou Loutre til Eloi then cut across? I have a 20 foot CC rogue with 150.

I was there this weekend. The water came down since Friday.

FWIW, we found a good redfish bite in the BM. Talked two capt's who braved the sound today (Sunday) and did well. Noone ran outside yesterday with all the storms around.

Good luck and enjoy
