Front porch is a small (6x15ish) concrete slab. There's a hole burrowed under it that we thought was previously abandoned but I just saw the big motherfricker in the driveway run back to his home.

.22 mag isn't an option.

I don't really want to trap and transport him myself.

What are the options and pricing for pest control, etc?

I have poured motor oil in holes in the past to encourage the animal to move.

Take old piece of water hose, thread it down hole as far as it will go.Put funnel in your end and pour quart ammonia down the hose. Then take leaf blower and blow it in the hole few minutes. If you can’t shoot him wack him with baseball bat when he comes out the hole.We don’t have groundhogs but I’ve done it for armadillos, they come out all bungfuzzled, snorting and blowing.

Baw level: 1000

I called around and the pricing is ridiculous. Gonna check and see if I can pick up a box trap at the co-op.

What's the preferred method of disposal? Can I just chuck him in the trashcan?

Wait until Feb 2.. when he shows himself, spring your surprise. If that doesn’t work, wait till you hear “I got you babe” by Sonny and Cher on your ancient clock radio then go try again. You’re welcome.

drop a decent chunk of dry ice down the hole and cover the opening with a towel. The dry ice will turn to CO2 and is heavier than air, suffocating it.

place hose in hole and turn it on, he will have to come out

at that point you shoot him in the head and drop him in a ditch somewhere far away for the buzzards to eat

if you dont want to kill it they barricade 3 sides and then put a cage trap in the open side so he has to go into it.

then just wait or if you in a hurry do the water hose thing to force him out

Have you tried rapping on the little door and asking him to come out?

What’s 5-10 lbs of rotting meat smell like?

I vote for the ammonia method above and you need to video.

You can also get a trap to put in front of the entrance to capture him and relocate.

When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.

If it was me I'd back a car up to the hole and run exhaust in there for 30 minutes or so. Afterwards fill hole with dirt and there should be no smell at all.

The live traps work great. I don’t know about for a ground hog or their price for the bigger ones but I don’t see why not. They usually have them at Ace or local hardware stores.

I caught rats 3 nights in a row last weekend in a live trap because my parents have a above ground hot tub that they freaking love. I just shoot them in the back of the head with a BB gun. 3rd day I couldn’t check it until 4pm and that bastard passed away already from heat stroke or something I guess, it couldn’t have been in the sun for more then a couple hours even as it was the side of the house shaded in the am. But if you put it somewhere right with enough food I’d think a ground hog would be fine in there for maybe a couple of days to give you some time.

He probably has more then 1 exit though, id think if you put something down his hole to scare him out he may exit the hole you aren’t standing over. But I have no idea honestly.

Tractor supply sells two different sized traps.

Have caught coons in both the large one, and this small one.
