How do you tell the difference between types of bream?

I look at bluegill, sunfish, sacalait, etc and see pretty much the same thing.
Also, I'm assuming im using the correct term with bream meaning all different types.

Easy to tell the difference between those three. Google image is your friend.

well, a sacalait is easy because that is an entirely different fish (which I don't consider to be a bream)....
I don't know the names of them all, but the "breams" look fairly well different, too...one has a big hunched up forehead, etc...

Just off the top of my head for bream:
Bluegill= looks bluish in color
Longear= ear is longer
Sunfish= red or orange belly
War mouth (goggle eye)= has a bigger mouth than the others.

Really no difference other then then sac au lait once they are floating in the cooking oil.

There is big difference between all of those as far as looks go. Like someone else said, google is your friend on this type of stuff.

It's pretty easy until you get to some of the introduced species at Toledo and then there's the stumpknocker problem.
