How long to boil crabs

Advice on how long do you boil crabs? I assume it’s similar to crawfish…bring water to a boil…add crabs…bring water back to a boil…then let them boil about 7 minutes…then turn off and let soak until they are desired doneness.
Is about 7-10 minutes the typical amount of time to boil crabs?

I shoot for 7 minutes rolling boil then like 25-30 minutes to soak. I think you'll be fine give or take a couple minutes.

Crabs are easy. You've got it - boil for ~10min or so and soak. Hard to mess them up or overcook, IMO.

I boil for 5 and soak for 30. Did some last night (without fixins) and they were perfect.

I boil for 5, soak for 15 then start checking a crab every 5 minutes. Overcooked seafood is the worst.

Bring water to a rolling boil. Put crabs in and bring back to a rolling boil. Boil for 10 minutes, cut fire, put in frozen corn and let soak 25 minutes. Perfect every time

I see everyone saying to soak for 20. I Damn near never have the same soak time on any seafood. I soak till they sink or should be sunk by now

This. You don’t soak to time. Any reputable restaurant that boils really good seafood let’s them sink. That means they’ve taken all the seasoning. You let a full big male soak for 30 min you have a unseasoned crab.

I usually boil for 7.
Drop in vegetables/corn/potatoes (forked), mushrooms, sausage, etc and let go for an additional 5-6 after it comes back a boil from cool down.
Soak 20-25. Crabs we catch are small mostly.
Take everything out

Rolling boil then 5 min.
I bought a boil boss to cool water down. It's just a ring that sits on pot and you hook hose pipe to. Gets your temp down to 150 in about 3 min. Soak about 15 before tasting.
Everybody is different. Just practice and change it up everytime till you find what you like.

bring water to rolling boil and drop in crabs, cook for 12 more minutes and then turn off fire and lift basket out letting it rest at angle sitting on top of pot to stop the cooking process. after about 5 minutes drop pot back into water and let soak for 20-40 minutes depending on how much seasoning you want in them, longer soak = more flavor
i dont wait for it to come back to a boil to time it, i just do 12 minutes after dropping crabs in and they are perfect

this will make them shed their claws unless they have been iced
put crabs in COLD water and bring boil
its the best way to keep the "paws" on them...

Just understand that everybody has different times because it's based on your setup.. Big diffence in a single or dual burner setup.
