I'm selling a boat for the 1st time. I have the title in hand. Selling for cash.
What paperwork is involved for both the boat and trailer? Do we need a notary?

Bill of sale and sign the title. Forms can be found on DMV website (for trailer) and LDWF for boat or you can combine the two.

if you want it done correctly, I would pay the $30 notary fee.

The notary work is no charge if you sell the boat to me at a good price.

Do I remove the license plates from the trailer after the sale?

Yes and send them to DMV. That way, you make sure buyer goes to do his end of the ppwk.

Notary isn't required if I'm not mistaken, but it's a good idea. I just sold mine and printed out the bill of sale from the LDWF website. If you go to a notary, then they will have any forms you need. Just have serial numbers, hull ID, etc. for everything you are selling. They do the boat, motor, and trailer all seperate. When I bought my boat, I got lucky and did it at a place that handled everything. They did all the bills of sale, registered the trailer, and sent in all paperwork to have the boat registered with LDWF. I would look for a place that does that, because all I had to do was pay around $175 and wait for everything to come in the mail.

When I purchased I paid. Not when I sold.
