Hunting Sherburne WMA

Been going for years, it can get crowded but it's a big wma. From my experience, go deep and get in the water

Where are y'all finding water? I've walked it a few times and everything looks the same. Iv found a few thickets and I plan to hunt those, but anyone want to give a few pointers?

A_bear ... you putting in from Krotz Springs or Whiskey Bay ?

I've hunted several times off HappyTown and haven't seen any deer within bow range

next time I'll bring my 22WMR and hunt hogs deep in the WMA

I have spots on the krotz springs side and the whisky bay side. I always have a backup spot in case I roll up and there's multiple trucks or boats where I planned on hunting. It's worth hunting if you can hunt on weekdays. Weekends are just crazy out here. Squirrel hunters everywhere and now a lot of people walking around trying to shoot hogs with 22's and shotguns. You can't get mad because they're entitled to do that just like I'm entitled to deer hunt but it's just frustrating to drive out here, launch the boat, walk in, set up, and at 7am someone is walking around shooting up the woods. To me, it hasn't been worth it to hunt on either sex weekends because there's too many people with rifles, but now that I have a boat I'm going to give it a try and see if I can get away from the crowds. To put it into perspective, I hunted a spot last year from October 1st until thanksgiving week and never saw a single person or truck where I parked. I pulled up on Friday morning of either sex with a rifle and there was 6 or 8 (can't remember which one) trucks parked where I parked.... It's a total shite show on those weekends.

Right now is archery, either sex. Either sex rifle starts Black Friday.
