I have this big bunch of bushes in front of my house that has vines all in it. The vines need to go, and the bushes need to be trimmed. The problem is that they are full of bees and wasps.

IDGAF about the wasps, but I don't want to go killing all of the bees. Should I just shake the bushes and run? Would that make them go away long enough for me to cut?

Burn it to the ground and start over. The bees and wasps will clear out once the flames start kicking up. You may lose a bee or two but the rest will live on somewhere else, preferably not near your house.

When I need to get something out of my wasp-infested shed, I put on my old roadracing gear (full leathers). I wrap a towel around my neck so they don’t get into my helmet though.

Or I make one of the kids do it.

The bees will leave.

If they are boxwoods and you spray the wasps it is gonna kill the shrubs. Take my word for it-got several dead ones from last year when I sprayed the nests

I bet you could get a miracle grow sprayer fill it with dish soap hook it up to the hose and spray the hell out of them. Then when things calm down wash them down with just water. That is about the only mild way I can think of, I have not tried it. I can also confirm that wasp spray kills boxwoods.

If they aren't nesting in the bushes, then do it at night. They go back to their hive when the sun goes down.

The environmentally safe and recommended method is to take, in one hand, a 3 foot long cedar limb with lots of green on it and shake the bush with your free hand. Then, when the wasps come out to see what's going on, you start thrashin em fast as you can with that cedar limb. Better not stop thrashin til you get em all or they'll eat you up...

Wait a couple months until it cools down outside. They will be gone mid to late November

After killing some hedges spraying wasp spray on guinea wasps I changed to soapy water. Wasps drop off and you can safely remove the nests. Rinse off the soap and it’s all good. If the wasps return do it again. They generally stop trying, at least for the season.

I'm not worried about killing the wasps. I don't want to kill the bees

If you don’t want to kill the bees find a bee keeper. Most will come get them for free or at least I have been told they will.

Man I don't know what you want us to say. There is no fricking way to kill the wasps and just put the bees to sleep so you can trim the bushes. You either need to wait until winter or don a bee suit.

My dad sprays his bushes with ortho klor. It doesn’t specifically target wasps but it keeps them away.

Got it done. I ran up and ripped the vines. They got pissed and started swarming, so I ran off. Went back and ripped on more of the vines, and they just flew around in the air for a bit, and then gave up.
