Kevin Hynes or Lee Duet Duck taxidermy

These are the 2 names I see popping up on the best of the best for waterfowl. I can’t find a contact for Lee, but I’ve spoken to Kevin Hynes and he said I can bring em over whenever. He does charge $350 a bird and I’m not sure of Lee’s prices. Do any of y’all have any personal experience with both of them or either of them?

Did Kevin give you any estimate on turnaround time? Im debating between sending a bluewing to him or Jeff Deblieux.

Kevin Hynes does all my birds and that won’t change until he retires. You may pay a bit more but there is no coming back from a shitty taxidermy job. I’ll try to post some pics if I can figure it out.

I did not think he could top the pintail mount but that barred up speck might be my favorite.

The two teal were done by David Luke about 15 years ago. The squirrel and deadhang mount was done for my dad by Josh Brockhoeft in Mandeville. He is a really good dude who would be my second option if Kevin gives it up.

That dead mount is very nice. That spec is amazing. I believe I’ll br Bringing my ducks to Kevin Hynes. Where is he located at? I have a huge mallard and another nice mallard. This was the first green heads my dog retrieved and it was a nice double. One of the mallards was a cripple that he ended up picking up 500 yds from the pit. I just have to pick a nice pose for the 2 Drakes. Wish I had a pretty hen to put with them in the mount.

Hes got a house over in Pearl River. If you head that way, ask him to show you some of his mounts. He can talk your ear off so make sure you have some time. I went in wanting a particular mount of that pintail. He convinced me to let him play with the bird to find a great position and I was not disappointed. Do not be afraid to let him see the bird and pick the best mount for you. Otherwise, he does not mind suggestions.

Kevin did a gray duck and widgeon strapped to one board for me. Probably the nicest mount I have of all the waterfowl I've had done. He took a while to get it back to me, but well worth it.

I've had my last two mounts done by Kevin and would highly recommend him. He did two drake bluewings and a drake bufflehead. I can post photos later. I used to use another taxidermist in Baton Rouge but felt that his quality dropped off significantly over the last few years. He also got very expensive ($400+). Kevin is $300-350/bird and there is no comparison in quality. He's a funny dude, so like another poster said, be prepared to talk to him when you go out there.
