So I just cut one down. I know they are tough to kill completely, but does anyone have any advice? As of right now I left a 2' stump, but I know it'll spring up again if I don't do anything.....

Cut it to the ground and just mow over it.

Pour some straight 2-4-D on the stump.

Spike would kill it too. Would take longer though. Spike inhibits the photsynthesis process. Plants drop leaves, a time or two before dying for good.

See if local co-op has Tordon. I know it works for tallow trees.

Use syrup or honey on the stump. The sugar will shock and kill that fricker dead.

Drill holes in the stump and then poor a large bottle of molasses on the stump. Sugar kills trees of any variety. When the tree drinks up the sugar in the molases it will kill it. This may sound crazy, but I have yet to have it fail to kill a tree. Howard Garrett "the dirt doctor" on Dallas radio is who gave me this trick. The dirt doctor knows his stuff when it comes to plants.

Negative. I've ground crepe myrtle stumps and still get chutes. Also dug some and get chutes. They come from the roots that are left.
