Went duck hunting the other morning and noticed fish hitting the water but couldn't figure out what kind, I'm guessing gar bc it's shallow but holy cow if that's bass bc fish were hitting the top all morning. Anyone have any fishing experience there?

For those that don't know that this lake even had a name, it's the lake by the ULL ski team lake by the airport

If it seems too good to be true it probably is.
I've never been over there but one day I was testing a new kayak and swore I saw bass hitting. Came bAck the next day with rod n reel and didn't Catch anything

Yea that's what I figured. Been looking for a good, close place to fish in my kayak besides the basin. Too many idiots in there with motors and aluminum.

You need to get permission to fish in the water ski lake. That place is loaded I understand.

Fished there a lot in the 90's. Not many bass unless there was an outflow into the lake. Bass were small, too. Times may have changed, but I never saw anyone back there.

I've never been there, but my father in law said a long time ago he fished in there and caught more sac a lait than he knew what to do with. But that was a long time ago.

I've been wanting to make the paddle. Maybe when my kids move out the house and I retire. If I'm still physically able.

Charlo is super shallow. Its a public water body.

The lake behind the airport is private and blocked off. Its much deeper and full of fish

Not gonna be much fish in Charlo due to the depth but if you like to take photos, its a great place in spring. The wading birds from Lake Martin rookery get in there thick
