Hey guys,
I’m over in St Tammany and have 5 days to vacation next month. I wanted to take the kids to a cool, clean lake to swim and fish with a cabin/house on the water in Arkansas or southern Missouri but the wife doesn’t want to drive that far.
Any recommendations in central or North Louisiana? I don’t have a boat, I’d be looking for a house with a dock to fish from. A plus if the water is swimmable.
Just tired of the beach

Maybe look at Lake Bruin. It's supposed to be known for its clear-er water as far as Louisiana and South MS lakes go.

Check VRBO for Toledo Bend rentals. Cypress Bend Park has a decent little beach area for swimming.

Check Bruin if you want NLA. Theee are Airbnb places, the Oxbow lodge and cabins at the State Park. If your going to Ark go to hot springs. Get a place on Degray or Hamilton

Poverty Point State Park in Delhi has cabins IN the water. Not sure if there is a swimming place there but the lake is beautiful and I love staying in those cabins.

Poverty Point has some neat cabins. You can swim, but it’s not a clear and nice as swimming in an oxbow like Bruin or Lake Providence

Shite man there are big gators in PP Lake. Would not swim there at all.

Lake Bruin is the answer OP.

Lake ouachita 7.5 hours from BR if that fits her range. You can stay on a houseboat and rent jet skis or pontoons. It’s damn nice
