How’s the lake level? Haven’t fished here since I was a kid but was thinking about pulling the boat down, meeting up with some baws and doing a nostalgic trip. Looking for a report?

I went last week just south of verret, closer to grassy. The water looked really good, but I didn’t catch shite. Nothing. Got a bite on a frog that looked like a bass, but I’m not 100% sure it wasn’t a choupique. Fished from about 2pm till just before dark. Pretty disappointing trip.

Very early shad spawn bite, then it gets tough. White cranes along the bank are the key to spot since they are eating the same thing the bass are eating.

Used to bass fish Verret back in the 70’s. We always caught plenty bass. Usually between Shell beach and Pierre Part Bayou. From what I’ve heard it’s just not the place it used to be.

All the catfish you can stand to catch. That's about it.
