Lakes in Louisiana for water skiing.

Can you guys recommend some good lakes for water skiing? Possible with camps? Spent the weekend up a Caney Lake and loved it. Something like that. False Lake is too crowded, and Maraupas is too choppy.

Old River. Just north of False river.
There's a good spot on the eastern side of that lake. Runs North and South. Usually easy to get out of the wind. Much less boat traffic than Flase river.

Kincaid Reservoir in Gardner about 20 miles west of Alexandia is good. Lake verret area has plenty of space to get away from people and some protected areas when windy to avoid the chop.

Lake Rosemound used to have a ski lake and a fishing lake. Anyone know if that is still the case?

Grand Bayou in Coushatta has cabins and RV spots.
Over crowding is not a problem.

Run up the Tchefuncte River.
The traffic settles once you pass the bridge.

False Lake is too crowded,

I don't do much skiing but Calcasieu was glass last weekend. I would say False river on a non-holiday.

They've got some good places to ski in the Basin off of the Boutte La Rose exit.

Yes, they still have both. Only allowed to ski 4 boats at a time on the ski lake. My grandparents live there. Spent every weekend during high school and college skiing there. Ski there typically once a month now with my kids.
Didn't mention it since it is private. However, I believe if you stay at the bed and breakfast, they have a party barge available that you can tube behind.

Than you everyone for the info. I really liked Caney Lake, but it is a 4 hr haul. I will do more research with your suggestions. Kind of thinking of a camp before the kiddos are all gone.

The Amite river isn't that busy that you can't water ski...

I grew up water skiing in Bayou Des Allemands.
