Lowrance Hook Map Card Help

Trying to load custom satalllite map card on a Hook and a Hook2 unit. I own an Elite 9 that the map card works just fine on. My father has both of the hook units and I was looking to get one from him to mount on my small boat.
The menu options are different than the Elite and I cannot find where to load the imagery.
Anyone have one of these units that run a similar card?

Ok I did come across that video. It just doesn’t explain if the file format on the card makes a difference from the Elite to the Hook because it still dosent load.
Also from what I’m seeing it may not even be possible for satallite imagery on the Hook2

Base Software is the same across all platforms. When you hit menu then menu again right arrow on the chart icon. You should have a drop down between lowrance maps or whatever map card you use. You should be able to select that card and pull up imagery.
If you don’t see the card you may have a issue with a card reader and may want to try it on the other hook unit

The satellite map cards will not work on Hook2 units. I sold mine for an elite ti.

If you card is similar to the Ecard, which I am guessing it is, Hook2 will not work.

The best thing you do for that unit is get a navionics card or return it for a better unit.

The hook is junk.
Not all the custom sat cards work on them. There is a different setting when making the cards that will allow them to work on Hooks.

I agree, it’s a piece of shite. Shaded relief is setting you’re talking about.
I contacted standard mapping and lowrance about the issue. Both basically told me that the original hook was too slow, so lowrance dumbed down the unit until it was faster... which eliminated it being able to read satellite cards.

Yea the hook 1 sucks. I have it with a generic sat image card. Card is great. Unit is soooooo slow. I have to reset it often bc it’ll freeze up. Anyone know if the older elite 5 or 7 use the same power cables?

Dang, I've enjoyed my Hook 7.

Do you use a sat card with it? Does it freeze?

All lowrance units use the same power cable

The shaded relief option is on the Hook 1, there isn’t anything similar on the Hook 2. I was just hoping to use it on my second boat without spending some extra coin.
I know the satalite card isn’t a must but it sure is nice to have. Looks like my options are limited to a new unit or no card.

They sure did. I, like you, expected the 2 to be better equipped to handle something like a map card. Seems like it was just geared towards dummys who don’t know how to run a unit.

I’ll be shopping for a new one soon, I may lean towards hummingbird.

Not wrong lowrance makes two power cables a blue and a red connector. Both are interchangeable and has been the same power cord since the LCX series. All of them are NMEA 0183 power cables
