These products, as most of you know are used in boat building.

One boat mfg. brags that the fiberglass board does not rot like marine plywood.
(Americat)

Recently, i had my plywood floor re-gelcoated by a pro. It was starting to get some cracks in it but the floor still feels structurally sound. Anyway, while at his yard i got into a conversation with a worker there about fiberglass board and how it doesn't rot.

He said "Really, it doesn't rot?" and preceded to show me two boats he was re-doing with plywood because the fiberglass board's layers were delaminating.
I seent it

So, whats the OB's opinion of these products?

Coosa is for the transom. Nida core is for the deck. Plywood is fine if it is completely coated with resin and If you do your screws properly. At least that's my take.

I've got a I/O ski boat and the transom was rotten. I pulled the drive, engine, and ripped out all of the old rotten plywood in the transom. When I replaced it, I used exterior plywood and completely sealed it in fiberglass and poly resin. I glued it to the hull with resin and shredded fiberglass (called peanut butter) and then layered it in biaxial cloth to the top of the transom and the bottom of the hull.

That transom will last a long time, because moisture can't get to the wood (unless the fiberglass starts to crack.) The problem I've seen with marine plywood, is that it always seems damp. I wasn't interested in encapsulating damp wood, even if it was marine grade.

I'm old school, and exterior plywood is what I know, and it's easy to get. Iboats dot com forums has some really knowledgeable fiberglass guys over there, and most of them push rebuilding with plywood and poly resin. I never even considered Coosa.

This. Use epoxies and one is good.
