Our friends in the Land Mass between NOLA and Mobile don't want Louisiana folks in their waters
What the story with this?
Non-Resident Licenses Price Agent Fee Process Fee
Freshwater Fishing $60.00 $3.00 $1.29
3-Day Freshwater Fishing $15.00 $2.00 $1.29
1-Day Freshwater Fishing $8.00 $1.00 $1.29
Saltwater Fishing $30.00 $3.00 $1.29
3-Day Saltwater Fishing $15.00 $2.00 $1.29
NOTE: Louisiana residents must purchase both the Freshwater and Saltwater license to fish in the marine waters of Mississippi.

Why go fish in MS anyways

I have been a resident of both states. Purchased out of state fishing liscenses in both states.
Louisiana has always had the same liscense purchasing mandates that Ms. is now implementing. If Ms guy fishes La they have to purchase fresh and if fishing salt they have to buy salt and fresh.
Also triple the price $90 for Ms to fish La water. I understand that this is in direct response to out of state hunting liscenses issued by state of Ms.

If you join the Mississippi Whitetail hunter group most of the guys who bitch about folks from Louisiana hunting there have pictures of them holding redfish caught in Louisiana.

LA did it to MS anglers first.

Wich is dumb don't you think? Seeing as how they share a border that lies on the nations "main vein" and essentially share access to arguably the nation's most fertile estuary system and bird rookery (Biloxi marsh and Chandeleur Chain). Why isn't their more of a joint effort between the two states to preserve the unique ecosystem?

Because conservation takes money.
It's been this way as long as I can remember. LA guys lease MS property to deer hunt, MS guys drive to LA to fish. I don't really blame either state for capitalizing on demand to fund upkeep of the resource when they know who is buying the majority of out of state licenses, as long as the money is spent responsibly.
An out of state deer license in MS is a pain in the wallet but having grown up in MS, I can definitively say if there wasn't a visible green jeans presence then there wouldn't be a damn deer left in that state.

Its not like Louisiana is giving Mississippi residents some break on our licenses either.
Louisiana non-resident licenses:
Basic/freshwater - $60
Saltwater - $30
Basic 1 day - $5
Saltwater 1 day - $17.50

I agree. I have never had any issue purchasing any fishing liscense. It's not the price I was alluding too.
Its the fact that whenever I hear about coastal restoration projects its always Ms. is doing this, or La is doing that. I was making the point that the two states waters are intermingled at the border (more so than other states) so it would be in everybody's best interest to have more joint efforts in these delicate coastal areas that have recently taken some serious hits, whether they be of natural causation or man made.

You're really describing two different issues. Coastal restoration is a relatively LA-centric issue and goes way beyond wildlife and fisheries. The two states cooperate for the most part on fisheries management as far as I know.
This is more about getting money for the use of the resource. It comes down to the fact that LA and MS are easily accessible by the residents of each state. A guy from Picayune is going to fish a LOT more, and use the resource to a greater extent, than someone from Birmingham. Same goes for guys on the Northshore who are a straight shot on I-55 from their lease and will hunt dozens of times per season.

Louisiana prices went up during the Foster administration. People complained about the hunting license fees for LA Residents hunting in MS. The Foster administration tried working with MS and they refused. That where the increased LA non resident fees started.
Same thing happened on the Eastern Pearl River.
Miss and Louisiana had a gentleman’s agreement to let either licensed resident fish either side. Then the guess who, Miss game wardens complained. Now both sides enforce it from the center of the river to their side. If you are a Miss Resident and fish the West Bank of the East Pearl you are required to have a Louisiana license. The opposite for Louisiana residents fishing the middle to the East bank.

It's downright stupid/shameful that they signal out LA anglers

Pretty sure as long as you are in the main river you are good. It's if you go in cuts on either side where different license come into play.
