Nothing screams redneck badass like a side by side double-barrel 12 gauge shotgun. I want one and my local gun shop has a Mossberg Silver Reserve II in stock.

Does anyone have experience with this gun or any Mossberg? If so then what do you think of the company?

Thanks.

Actually it screams uppity upland hunter... Similar to Wickowick, but with more money.

Wick, I kid.

You can find an older Browning BSS side by sides for that price. Not much to look at but built like a tank.

I have to ask -- other than liking its appearance, why the desire for a side-by-side?

They are generally considered harder to shoot well than an O/U or a semi-auto (on the skeet & sporting clays fields).

I've been to every store that keeps them on the shelves in the GBRA in the last week. If the mossberg SxS is anything like the O/U I'd avoid it. CZ Sharptail seemed like a very nice SxS for not that much more.

I like them for hunting, I like double triggers and there are more SxSs with double triggers than O/U, A SxS and an O/U handles much better than a semi auto or pump.

Have the same gun but mine is over/under.
Not the most expensive gun but it'll do what I want regardless of what the rest of these pros on here will tell you. Enjoy shooting it.

If you're happy with it thats all that matters, it was significantly heavier than a lot of the others I handled and the action was stiffer than a wedding dick.

I'd buy the CZ if i was looking for a SxS.

I had a silver reserve OU. It had a mind of its own. Later realized the receiver had a hairline crack which turned out to be common and resulted in misfires and double-fires.
