I ended up buying a John Deere from a local distributer and not a big box store.

I literally just put my gravely ZT 52 in the shop in Lafayette for the third time for same problem. Blades shut down and then engine stalls after 10 min of cutting at the r engine warms up. Cleared the mower deck, cut at 3” easy Bermuda and it still happens. I can restart and cut a few more 10 minute sessions and then the pull up PTO switch won’t engage at all unless I let mower cool off for 3 minutes . The Lafayette dealer says they can’t recreate the problem so can’t diagnose it. This mower I’ve had for 4 yrs and was in 3 times for starter, has and now knocks. 280 hrs on it. It’s the “ Gravely” ie Chineze engine.

Oh and dealership is behind so will take 4 weeks. For a commercial unit.

It can get hairy mowing around a pond edge, with ant piles and a surprise snake or two, wasps etc. You got to stay real focused.

Which JD model did you get? I like their 4 year warranty.

Someone else mentioned avoiding the ZT Elite - 100% agree. We had one for two years, it was sluggish on the controls and tire spin was always an issue. Dealer replaced both hydros with no appreciable improvement. The specs were great which was why we purchased, but compared to the Exmark and Hustlers that we also own, it was a very inferior operating mower.

We got rid of it after two years and replaced with a Hustler. BIL runs scags in his business, but they are $$$$$.

Something to consider. Zero turns are very heavy. Being you are bayou side you will either need to weedeat areas which are low and near to the bayou, or consider a lawn tractor instead of zero-turn. Zero-turns are arse heavy, and things will quickly go south if you are anywhere near wet ground.

I've had good luck with John Deere over the years.

bullshite, no way you cut 12 acres a week at your house.

Why do you cut your yard ever week?

Do you have a job other than cutting your own grass?

I but I will say that I'd prefer the Kawasaki engine

My old man has a John Deere tractor style with a Kawasaki engine that's had nothing but an oil change every few years. It's a 1992. I think he's gotten his money's worth.

I got the S240 in 48 inch. It has a 21.5 hp engine. It was the only 48 inch they had in stock at the time. I cut grass 3 times so far and I am pleased.
